<div id="content"><div tabindex="0"><h3>Milly Needs to Enrich Many Related Products</h3></div><div class="formalblock"></div><p tabindex="0">When the properties of many products need to be edited, changing them all manually isn't practical. To do so:</p><ol><li tabindex="0">Create a zip file of all the images you wish to import.</li><li tabindex="0">In your Excel file (either a template containing new products or a download of existing products), provide the path of the image file from the root of the zip file. The Product Cockpit will create a media image for your image and create the link to the product.</li><li tabindex="0">In the Excel Import dialog, provide both files, then select the <i>Import</i> button.</li></ol><div tabindex="0"><h3>Bulk Image Importing</h3></div><div class="formalblock"></div><p tabindex="0">Sometimes, Product Managers will upload new images in bulk to enrich their products. Product Editing in Bulk

As a Product Manager,  Milly is always looking for ways to do her job more efficiently. Diva is launching a collection to honor fame fashion designer Elinor Dashwood,  and Milly has been tasked with making that happen. She has already created a new category,  named Dashwood Select. However,  instead of manually adding products to it,  she’ll save time by using the Excel Export/Import feature of the Backoffice Product Cockpit. She exports the products that she wants to modify,  edit them in Excel,  and then import them back to SAP Commerce. Miss Dashwood famously loved handbags,  so Diva’s Marketing has decided to start this collection with a curated offering of women’s bags.   In the Backoffice Product Cockpit,  Milly navigates to the Products view. Then,  Milly types the word,  tote,  in the search bar,  and clicks the magnifying glass icon. Backoffice now looks for products whose article number or identifier include the word, tote. Milly believes that the Gusty Tote Ball Bag would will appeal to Elinor Dashwood,   so she drags it and its two variants to the Quick List.  Upon reflection, she also thinks the Baby II Bag would fit right in,  so she searches for,  baby,  and clicks the magnifying glass icon. She drags the Baby II Women’s Bag and its two variants to the Quick List. The Cockpit indicates that the Quick List currently contains six products.  Judging that will be enough products for now,  Milly clicks the Quick List link to view its contents.  Hold on!  The Cockpit indicates that there are six products in the list,  but Milly only sees three.  Oh, right.  The word,  baby, still appears in the search box,  and that’s limiting the products shown.  When Milly erases the search term,  all the products in the Quick List are displayed. After selecting all six products,  she clicks on the Export icon. Then,  she clicks on Export Excel. The Export to Excel Dialog box is now displayed. Milly must add the attributes she intends to edit.  Under Excluded attributes,  she searches for Supercategories,  and selects the attribute by checking its box. The Add arrow adds it to the list of included attributes. Milly completes the export,  and the resulting Excel file appears in her browser’s list of downloaded files. When Milly opens the file, it shows two of the six products that she exported.  Glancing down at this file’s tabs,  Milly can see that the exported products are grouped by type. Since this product catalog uses variants,  each product, of the type ApparelProduct,  has two variant product types,  one a size variant, the other a style variant. Milly wants to add these products to the Dashwood Select category,  in the same catalog. She clicks on the Supercategories column and appends the following string to the existing text:  ,dashwood-select:Staged:apparelProductCatalog. This adds the Dashwood Select category to that product’s supercategories property. She copies that string and adds it to the other five products in this file.  Milly now saves the Excel file. Returning to the Backoffice Product Cockpit,  Milly first clears the Quick List by selecting the products it contains and clicking the,  Remove Products from List, button. Milly imports the file she edited. When the Import Excel File dialog box appears,  Milly can either browse her filesystem for the file,  or drag and drop the file. After doing so,  she clicks on Import. Now, Milly can check to see if the addition of her products to the Dashwood Select category was successful.  Milly searches for the tote again,  then edits it. The Properties tab is displayed by default,  and Milly navigates to the Category System tab. She finds the section titled:  Categories Containing this Product. There, Milly can verify that the category Dashwood Select correctly appears as one of this product’s supercategories. She can repeat this process for any of the products she just imported. However, her import only modified the products in the Staging catalog version.  For this change to affect the customer-facing site,  Milly must synchronize the catalog. She does so by navigating to the Assortment view,  selecting the Apparel Staged Catalog,  and clicking the Catalog Synchronization icon. When the Sync dialog box appears,  she selects the Push to Target item,  and clicks Sync. She can click the Processes icon to see the synchronization’s progress.  If she doesn’t,  then the completion of the Synchronization Process shows a red dot on the Processes icon.  After synchronizing,  Milly visits her live Web site and verifies that the product changes are reflected correctly  and that they now appear when she views the Dashwood Select Collection. Satisfied with how efficiently she completed this task,  while on her break, Milly enjoys a cup of well-deserved tea.

Bulk Image Importing

Milly is creating a few dozen products for the Dashwood Select Collection that need images.  She intends to use the Backoffice Bulk Image Import feature to save herself some time and decides to try it out with two products she just added to the collection:  an umbrella and a suitcase.  After opening the Products view of the Backoffice Product Cockpit,  Milly navigates to the Dashwood Select category in the Staged version of the Apparel Product Catalog.   The two products appear,  and she confirms neither has a product image. She selects both products and selects Export Excel.  Since the products don’t have images yet,  she will only exports the required attributes used to uniquely identify a product. She clicks the Export button saves the file to disk and opens it in excel the file consists of two  saves the file to disk,  and opens it in Excel. The file consists of two rows,  the travel case and umbrella,  and the two required columns.  Milly adds the Image column.  In the second row,  the value fields needed to specify this property are displayed,  separated by colons. The first thing that she must specify is the path of the file she's importing. That path is relative to the root of a zip file. The first file Milly wants to import is the Rainbow Umbrella,  located in the image files directory.  The second file is the Hardback Carry,  located in a subdirectory of image files named Suitcases.  And here is the zip archive of the image files directory that Milly created.  Milly enters the relative location of each file in the Image column for the corresponding product.  Remember that the umbrella is at the root of the zip file,  and the Carry case is inside the Suitcases directory. Having specified the filePath part of the property reference,  Milly must specify a code,  catalog,  version, and folder for each product. She saves time by entering the default values in the third row.  Whatever she enters here affects every subsequent row in the file.  The filePath and code will be different for every image,  so she indicates no default values for either one by entering two colons. She has already entered the filePath for each image,  and a unique code will be automatically generated during the import process. That leaves the catalog,  which she sets to the apparelProductCatalog,  the version,  which she sets to Staged,  and the folder,  which she omits,  knowing it defaults to the Images folder,  and she's OK with that.   She saves the file and returns to the BackOffice Product Cockpit.  She now clicks the Import Excel button,  and a dialog invites her to specify an Excel file and a media zip file.  She drags the excel file she edited,  the zip file containing the two images,  and clicks Import.  After refreshing the page,  she sees the product images. All she must do now is synchronize the catalog,  and these images become visible to customers.
