Replicating Catalog

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to subscribe to catalogs in a multi-ERP environment

Catalog Replication

"Before we move on to the next topic, I have a question. We are planning to have a multi-ERP / multi-Realm configuration. Do we need to load our catalogs into each separate realm?"

"That is a great question, not at all. It is possible to load your catalogs from the parent realm through replication."

As with most other integrated data, catalogs can be replicated between Parent and Child Realms in a multi-ERP or a multi-realm environment.

  • Multi-ERP configurations use a parent site – child site model where one parent site groups a number of child sites.
  • There is no limit to the amount of child sites that can be associated with a parent site.
  • Each child site can be associated with one ERP system. Each child site is not likely to be of the same variant, nor is it a requirement.
  • In single- and multi-variant configurations, the parent site holds enterprise-wide data and configuration settings that it pushes to the child sites.
  • Data will integrate from the child site directly to the ERP.

Note

Users assigned to the group Customer Catalog Manager will be able to complete replication actions.

Process to Replicate Catalogs from the Child Realm

  1. Navigate to Core Administration
  2. Select Catalog Manager
  3. Select Catalog Replication
  4. Scroll through the list to the catalog subscription needing replication. The results are listed in a format of ‘Subscription Name (Common Supplier Name)’
    • Green Status blocks mean successfully replicated
    • White Status blocks mean it is currently not set to replicate
  5. Once the desired Catalog Subscription is found, click Actions then Subscribe/Unsubscribe
  6. The catalog is now available in the child realm. (There can be a delay of 5-10 minutes for the catalog to appear as subscribed)

"Catalog content and other catalog files in a multi-ERP application need to be loaded at the Parent level. For users that access the Child realms to utilize the catalogs, they must be replicated (subscribed) from the Parent real to the Child realm. This is done via replication in the Catalog Manager workspace."
