The Configure Entitlement Master Data app contains the Maintain Basic Configurations section. In this section, you can set up and adjust the basic elements that make up your entitlement management system. These elements can include setting up master data, defining entitlement models, and setting up workflows for your service processes.
From the Maintain Basic Configurations section of Configuration Overview, you can view and maintain the basic elements of the entitlement management system.
Let’s review some of these key elements, beginning with the Business Event field.
The Business Event field defines business operations that affect the entitlement record. The field acts as a key function for recording and tracking significant activities. These activities can come from upstream or downstream. Activities in any part of the business process can trigger them, whether related to the start or end of a process. Customers can leverage the predefined business event field in their SAP Entitlement Management configurations.
SAP recommends that customers specify these activities in a business event, categorizing the activities affecting the entitlement wherever they occur in the process.
Through automation and real-time monitoring, business event activities help identify and track changes in entitlements for audits and managing entitlements.
Other key fields can be defined in the Maintain Basic Configuration app.
The Business Category field groups entitlements by defining business categories, for example, cloud division, embedded SW division, sports, movies, and TV series.
The Right field defines the permission of actions for an entitlement that determines how the entitlement integrates with the fulfillment system.
The Entitlement Type field maintains an entitlement type when no predefined entitlement type is in use.
The Distribution Channel field groups entitlement models under a distribution channel where the customer receives the entitlement.
The Unit of Measurement field defines the unit of measure for an entitlement as a value list.
The Geolocation Configuration field groups entitlement models under a specific geolocation.
The Entitlement Source System field enables the configuration of the allowed sales system, when the sales system isn’t the same as the master data system.
