Modular questionnaires are projects designed to collect and organize important supplier details, such as certificates, compliance information, risk assessments, and more. They’re flexible and customizable, allowing you to create questionnaires that fit your organization’s needs. Modular questionnaires can work independently (called standalone questionnaires) or as part of a larger process, such as supplier qualification or engagement risk assessment.
Modular questionnaire projects are available in sites that include:
- SAP Ariba Supplier Lifecycle and Performance
- SAP Ariba Supplier Information and Performance Management (new architecture)
- SAP Ariba Supplier Risk
There are three ways to create a modular questionnaire project. Their availability depends on your SAP Ariba solution package, as shown in the table below:

Modular Questionnaires in Risk Assessments
In sites that include SAP Ariba Supplier Risk, sending risk assessments for a control-based engagement risk assessment project also creates modular questionnaire projects for the required assessments, which can be either internal (filled out by internal users) or external (filled out by suppliers).
Modular Questionnaires in Process Projects
In sites where the flexible process framework feature (SM-16798) is enabled, creating or renewing a process project also creates modular questionnaire projects for any included questionnaires that aren't reused. Modular questionnaires created in process projects can also be either internal or external.
Standalone Modular Questionnaires
Internal users with the appropriate permissions can create standalone external modular questionnaire projects outside of other supplier management processes. This invitation process creates a modular questionnaire project for each selected questionnaire for each invited supplier. A supplier can have any number of modular questionnaire projects.
Since they operate independently from other processes, standalone questionnaires can be used at various stages in the SAP Ariba supplier lifecycle, as shown in the following diagram:
