Summarizing the Personalization Module

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to recall key points covered in this unit and locate additional reading materials.

Summary

Before concluding the unit, let's quickly review the concepts that we've covered:

  • Customization: Every marketing campaign event is represented by a customization, which contains one or more variations/target groups.
  • Variation/Target Group: A variation or target group represents one possible set of customers, who will be delivered a unique experience executed by dedicated actions.
  • Trigger: The condition for activation of a variation.
  • Action: An action represents something that is to be changed or will change after a variation is activated by a trigger.
  • Segment: Segments group customers who share common characteristics. Customers can be associated with segments based on an affinity value, indicating the weight given to this association.
  • Personalization Mode: A view in SmartEdit, which allows you to build and configure a personalized experience for your customers.
  • Personalization Calculation: Personalization is calculated depending upon predefined calculation processes.
  • Personalization Customization: There are different ways to customize out of the box personalization functionalities. One typical way is to create a custom trigger to define a new condition to activate specific variations.
