Configuring Split Factor Calculations

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to configure split factor calculations

Split Factors

SAP IBP can be configured to be displayed in multiple levels. Executives may need to see data at a more aggregate level than planners. Data is always saved at base level of a key figure. Aggregation and disaggregation rules and planning levels control the levels at which a key figure may be displayed.

Split Factor Calculations 1

You use a split factor calculation when you want to show a key figure that is defined at an aggregated level at a lower level of granularity. You do so by splitting the value for the aggregated key figure proportionally according to the value for another key figure. Suppose that the key figure AGGDEMAND has a base planning level of PERPRODCUSTREGION. Your users would like to be able to view the key figure values at the PERPRODCUST level in order to compare with Sales Qty values. To determine those values at the more detailed level than the base planning level, the system needs to know how to determine those values. You need to provide the system with the proportions that you want to use to determine the values at the lower level. In this case, you determine those values based on the same proportions as Sales Qty.

Assume that the key figure AggDemand, which is defined at planning level Product/Customer Region, is to be disaggregated proportional to the Sales Qty, which is defined at planning level Product/Customer. Using split factor configuration, AggDemand, which is defined at aggregate level is available at detailed level Product/Customer based on a proportional split of Sales Qty.

The current values of Sales Qty are as seen below with HSALESFCSTAGG representing the aggregate values at the PERPRODCUSTREGION level.
