Copying and Disaggregating Key Figure Values

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to create a copy operator

New Copy Operator

The standalone copy operator and the standalone disaggregation operators cover similar requirements and have similar functional capabilities. These were the most frequently used SAP Integrated Business Planning for Supply Chain operators and over time it became clear that this functionality needs to be streamlined. Starting IBP 2002 there is a replacement option in New Advanced Copy Operator that offers a simplified setup.

The following example describes the role of the copy operator:

KF1 is a stored key figure with base planning level Prod-Loc-Cust, and KF2 is a stored key figure at Prod-Loc base planning level.

If you define COPY operator to copy KF1 to KF2, the operator calculates values of KF1 for all possible combinations of Prod-Loc and stores the result in KF2.

Copy Operator

Note the following:

  • The source key figure can be calculated or stored, but the target key figure must be stored, time-dependent.

  • Source key figure selection is optional if Create Missing Periods option and/or the Create Values option is selected.

  • Target key figure selection is mandatory.

After a Source and Target Key Figure has been selected, the system defaults the Copy Level – Attributes and Copy Level – Time Fields to the lowest level on which the key figure values can be copied.

Key benefits of the new copy operator:

  • ..covers all features of the existing copy and disaggregation operator (and a little more).
  • ...can be used in a more flexible way.
  • ...should be competitive with respect to performance.
  • ...can be set up in a user-friendly way using the Copy Operator Profiles app.

Selection options of the new copy operator:

  • Selection of time is governed by settings (aka, rolling time selection and selecting by date)
  • Selection by attribute is also available
  • it is possible to use selections with selection option ‘contains ’ and not equal ’, with the exception of conversion attributes, where only selection option possible is 'equal'

Demonstration: How to Create a Copy Operator

Create a Copy Operator

Business Example

In your role as project manager, you create a new copy operator profile and copy values from one key figure to another.

Note

In this exercise, when the values include ##, replace the characters with the number that your instructor has assigned to you.

Task 1: Create a Copy Operator Profile

Steps

  1. Create a new profile for the Copy Operator according to the table data:

    FieldValue or Action
    IDCopy##
    DescriptionGR## Copy Actuals Offset
    NameGR## Copy Actuals Offset
    Planning AreaT##

Enter the parameters provided in the following table.

    8. In the Parameter Section of the template, maintain the planning area and version.

    9. Specify your copy operator GR## Copy Actuals Offset .

    10. Choose Check and then choose Save.

Task 2: Test Your Solution in the Planner Workspace

Steps

  1. Test your solution by running the copy operator from the Planner Workspace created using the following information:

Use the following information for Time:

    FieldValue
    Time PeriodMonthly
    FromCurrent Month
    ToCurrent Month + 12
    RollingYes

    FieldValue
    Product IDSelected
    Customer IDSelected

Use the following information for Key Figures and Filter Settings:

    FieldValue
    Previous Year SalesSelected
    Previous Year History (Stored)Selected
    Filter SettingsProduct Family → xPhone
    1. Choose Planner Workspaces app in the General Planner group.

    2. Open the workspace 300_##.

    3. On the top right, choose Workspace → Design.

    4. Choose Settings on the top right of your existing planning view.

    5. Under the More dialog (three dots), choose Save As.

    6. Name your new planning view as Copy Operator.

    7. You might need to refresh your workspace.

    8. Complete the dialog box with the information provided in the table.

    9. To display the planning view, choose Apply.

    10. On the top right, choose Workspace → Plan.

    11. Select Jobs and choose Run Application Job.

    12. From the list, select your COPY## template.

    13. Choose Schedule.

    14. Check the status of the job by using JobsShow Status until the job is complete.

    15. Choose Go to refresh the data in the workspace.

      Result

The calculated key figure values in ACTUALSQTYOFFSET1YR should now appear in the stored key figure ACTUALSQTYOFFSETSTORED.

Demonstration: How to Create a Disaggregation Operator using Copy Operator Profile App

Create a Disaggregation Operator using Copy Operator Profile App

Business Example

You are a project manager and you want to copy and disaggregate the CONSENSUSDEMANDQTY key figure to INVENTORYTARGETQTY key figure. Since CONSENSUSDEMANDQTY can not be aggregated to the base planning level of the INVENTORYTARGETQTY key figure, it requires disaggregation in the operator.

When the values include ##, replace the characters with the number that your instructor has assigned to you.

Task 1: Create a Copy Operator Profile

Steps

  1. Create a new Copy Operator profile according to the table data:

    FieldValue or Action
    IDT##Disagg
    Description

    T## Demand Disaggregation

    NameT## Demand Disaggregation
    Planning AreaT##
    User FilterOptional

Enter the selections in the following table.

    Parameter Name

    Parameter Value

    1. In the General Planner group of tiles choose the Copy Operator Profiles app.

    2. Choose Create → Within Planning Area.

    3. Enter the operator details provided in the first table.

    4. In the Key Figure Selection area Choose Create.

    5. Enter the parameters provided in the second table.

    6. Hit Enter to trigger determination of copy levels.

    7. Choose Apply.

    8. Choose Create.

You do not need to have a checkbox for Missing Planning Objects.

You can ignore a warning about the settings of the copy operator.

  2. Create a new template for the copy job according to the table data.

Enter the parameters provided in the following table.

    Job Template NameDisagg##
Operator TypeCopy Operator: Copy Key Figure Values
