DefinitionAfter a new supplier is created, the supplier contact is invited to register and sent a registration questionnaire. Approvers review the supplier's answers and approve or deny the registration. The registration process can also include questionnaires for internal users as well as ongoing updates to questionnaires. Note the registration is typically used for onboarding a supplier and collecting ERP vendor set up data. A standard Supplier Registration is used to collect ERP Vendor set up data.A category or supplier manager qualifies the supplier for one or more specific combinations of commodities, regions, and (optionally) departments by sending a qualification questionnaire, reviews the supplier's answers, and approves or denies the qualification. Qualification should be used to drive the Preferred Process. Note qualification is typically used to determine the first step if a supplier could be a preferred vendor for the organization for certain category/region/department combinations. Typically, Qualification is used as a first step to marking a supplier as preferred for a specific category/region/department combination.Engagement Risk projects provide a process for evaluating the risk or desirability of engaging with a supplier or other third-party and establishing the potential risk of that engagement and managing the mandated controls associated with those engagements. Engagement Risk should determine if the supplier’s risk can be managed and allowed to do business with the organization. Engagement Risk is used to measure and mitigate the residual risk left when engaging with a supplier on a particular project.
