Defining Expenses and Charges

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to define Expenses and Charges

Expenses and Charges per Dunning Level

Carla discusses the expenses and charges per dunning level with Stefanos. Carla notes the settings and enters them in the system.

Let’s start with a screenshot showing an example of the Dunning Charges.

Maintain and configure dunning procedures charges, specifying charges at different dunning levels based on the due amounts. This screen allows setting amounts, charges, and percentages for each level to streamline the dunning process.

For each dunning procedure, you define dunning charges that depend on the dunning level. The following are features of dunning charges:

  • You can define dunning charges for each currency.
  • Dunning charges depend on the dunning level.
  • You can use word processing features to print these charges on the dunning forms.
  • Dunning charges can be either a fixed amount or a percentage of the dunned amount.
  • You can set a minimum amount for dunning charges.

Dunning charges are not transferred to the debit position.

The charge is determined based on the total of all items to be dunned in a dunning run.

Example:

The customer has the highest dunning level 2 in a dunning run: All items are added up across all dunning levels. The charge that was defined for dunning level 2 then applies.

The dunning program determines the dunning charges on a currency-dependent basis. If you have posted to an account with different currencies, the program determines the dunnable amount and the charges in local currency. If all open items of an account have been posted with the same currency, the program uses this currency. This can be the local currency or a foreign currency.

The charges must be defined in the currencies determined by the dunning program. Otherwise, no charges are printed in the dunning letter.

You can also scale the dunning charges, depending on the dunning amounts.

Hint

For our example, Clara knows that dunning charges should only be printed in the dunning letter starting from dunning level 3:

At this level, she specifies that for a dunning amount of EUR 100, a fixed dunning charge of EUR 5 is calculated. For dunning amounts in excess of EUR 1000, a charge of 0.3% of dunned amount is calculated as a dunning charge.
