Using Manage ESG Data Application to Record ESG Data

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to manage ESG data.

The Manage ESG Data Application

Once you configure data such as metrics and dimensions, you can record or add actual and target data from other SAP systems or files. You do this through the Manage ESG Data application.

The Manage ESG Data application offers ways to efficiently manage your ESG data. It enables you to import ESG data from files or SAP systems, validate the data, and fix any issues. You can also download error logs to help with data management. The app simplifies the process of handling ESG data effectively.

The Overall Flow of Data Imports

The overall flow of data imports using the Manage ESG Data application involves several key steps and functionalities that ensure efficient management and correction of ESG data. Some of the important data flows are described in the following list:

  1. Export Templates: The application provides templates for download in the .csv file format. These templates assist users in preparing and formatting their data for import according to the required standards.
  2. Data Import: The application provides the methods to import data. It supports the following data import scenarios:
    1. Import from file: The application enables users to import new data files into existing measures or metrics. This can include:
      • Measures: Importing actual values or actuals
      • Metrics: Importing targets for standard SAP Sustainability Control Tower metrics, custom metrics, and advanced custom metrics
    2. Import from SAP Systems: The application supports data imports from various SAP systems including:
      • Import from SAP S/4HANA or SAP S/4HANA Cloud: This option is available specifically for the measure called 'Amount'.
      • SAP Datasphere: This option is available for all measures that are relevant to sustainability metrics.
      • Import from SAP Sustainability Footprint Management: This option is particularly focused on Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emission data, using the measure, 'CO2e Emissions'.
      • Import from SAP EHS Environment Management: This option is particularly focused on GHG emission data, using the measure, ‘CO2e Emissions’.
  3. Data Correction and error handling: Users can fix or correct data that is already uploaded for existing measures. This ensures data accuracy and reliability for analysis and reporting. Users can download error logs to review and identify any issues in the imported data. This feature aids in locating and correcting errors efficiently, ensuring data integrity. Once the data is imported (and corrected if necessary), the application enables the validation of data to ensure it meets all required standards and accuracy.
  4. Publication: After validation, users can publish the data for further analysis and reporting.

Overall, the flow involves systematic importing, correction, validation, and publishing steps designed to efficiently manage and analyze ESG data within the application. These steps collectively enhance the reliability and usability of the data for corporate governance and sustainability efforts.
