Design Rules and Packaging Compliance

Objectives

After completing this lesson, you will be able to:

  • Configure design rules
  • Check compliance against design rules

Circular design rules

SAP RDP allows packaging engineers to set their own circular design rules or guides and check their packaging portfolio against it. The circular design rules could be internal design guides, rules or key performance indicators (KPI’s), or even some external rules that a company might like to follow, such as the Consumer Goods Forum "Golden Rules" for design, or rules that their customers have set.

The solution will check packaging compositions against these rules. The rules can be set either at the product level for a single piece of packaging, or they could be set for a group of products (a product category), or set across all product lines that a company makes. This means the feature can be used by packaging engineers, brand managers and corporate sustainability managers.

You can run any goal or KPI based on the parameters recorded in SAP Responsible Design and Production. As long as it’s in the system, you can set any rules you like to check if packaging complies with your design goals. For examples you could have a goal for recycled content, or that you don’t want certain materials to be used in packaging.

Packaging Compliance

Once you have created design rules in SAP Responsible Design and Production, you can then run a compliance check to answer the question: how is my packaging doing against my new rules. You can select the products, group of products, or countries where you want to run this compliance check. Then you can see the results.
