Personas and Dependencies

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to explain which people are involved in the set-up of SAP Signavio Process Insights and how they work together.

SAP Signavio Customer Onboarding

The image shows the SAP Signavio logo and the text Customer Onboarding.

This training is part of a series of Customer Onboarding Journeys. The onboarding learning journeys deal with a single solution and are aimed at specific persons. This e-learning is designed for the solution „SAP Signavio Process Insights" and is focusing on the tasks that need to be executed by „administrators".

Solution = SAP Signavio Process Insights Persona = Administrator

Complement Training & Education for e-learning

The picture shows two areas: 1. e-learning with the subtext self service in own pace and 2. Training & Education with the subtext Professional Services and Training.

With this e-learning, we provide you with a structured guide that lists and describes the different steps for setting up the SAP Signavio Process Insights solution. This e-learning should enable you to set up your tenant independently and process all necessary steps in the correct sequence.

The respective steps must be adapted to your individual situation in your company and executed in your own systems by you.

Documentation

The graphic shows three cards. One card represents the administrator for SAP Signavio Process Insights, the other two cards represent the documentation recommended for that person.

SAP Signavio Process Insights is a rapidly evolving cloud software that is updated in short intervals. You can always find the latest documentation on the SAP Help Portal.

Personas

The banner indicates that this section is aimed at all administrators.

This section of the course is relevant for: All Administrators

Personas (1)

The graphic shows two cards. One card represents the administrator for SAP Signavio Process Insights, the other for an end user (key user).

When onboarding for SAP Signavio Process Insights, we look at two different personas. Firstly, the administrators, who have more technical tasks to complete and prepare the tenant, and secondly, the end user (key user) who uses the solution's functions. The administrators hand over the tenant to the end users and ensure that up-to-date data is loaded regularly.

Personas (2)

The graphic shows four cards. Three cards represent the different administrators for the source systems, SAP Signavio Process Insights, and BTP. The fourth card represents a key user.

SAP Signavio Process Insights requires various administrative tasks to be performed on different platforms and systems. It is therefore possible that the tasks for setting up SAP Signavio Process Insights are split between several administrators. These are

  • (A) an administrator for the source system,
  • (B) an administrator on the Business Technology Platform (BTP) and
  • (C) an administrator of the SAP Signavio Process Insights application.

We explain how these administrators work together in the following sections.

Personas - Onboarding Sequence

The graphic shows four cards on a time stream. Three cards represent the different administrators for the source systems, SAP Signavio Process Insights, and BTP, who need to do their tasks first. The fourth card represents an end user (key user) that is displayed after the administrators.

Before end users (key users) can be invited to work in SAP Signavio Process Insights, all tasks of the various administrators must be completed. After the first data load, the end user can start using SAP Signavio Process Insights, e.g. analyse process flows and metrics and study recommendations.

Administrators Collaboration

Administrators Collaboration - Overview

The graphic shows three persons in the upper part. Three people represent the different administrators for the source systems, SAP Signavio Process Insights, and BTP. In the lower part, the systems or Platforms visualized and their relationships represented with arrows.

The cooperation of the administrators must be coordinated. The administrator for the source systems (A) carries out their activities on the system from which data is to be loaded for SAP Signavio Process Insights. A distinction is made between on-premise and cloud systems for the source systems. For on-premise systems, there are two options for system connections: direct or indirect. Cloud systems are always connected directly. SAP Signavio Process Insights is an application that runs on the Business Technology Platform (BTP). The BTP Administrator (B) carries out his work steps on the BTP. The results (including the service key or destination) must be stored in the source systems. Furthermore, some settings are made in the SAP Signavio Process Insights application itself. The SAP Signavio Process Insights Administrator (C) carries out these activities in the application itself.

Administrators Collaboration - Sequence

The graphic shows three persons in the upper part. Three people represent the different administrators for the source systems, SAP Signavio Process Insights, and BTP. In the lower part, the systems or Platforms visualized and their relationships represented with arrows. In addition, the 5 steps of collaboration between these persons are shown on a timeline. These steps need to be performed twice for test and production.

The sequence of activities should start with:

  1. Checking the system requirements in the source systems. The source system must have a certain release status and certain add-ons and OSS notes must be installed. In addition, users must be created in this source system for setting up and operating the data load.
  2. The BTP administrator makes the settings for the global account on the BTP and creates the SAP Signavio Process Insights tenant via a booster, creates the destination or service keys and maintains users, roles and authorisations.
  3. For the source system connection, certain ports must be opened in the network and URLs released in order to ensure smooth communication between the systems.
  4. Once the tenant has been created on the BTP and the keys are known, the connection between the systems is set up in the source system.
  5. The SAP Signavio Process Insights administrator can then make the data load settings in the application, configure the access rights for each system/client and monitor the data load

The relevant steps are discussed in detail in the following unit.

Hint

(2x) In a multi-tier system landscape, these steps are first carried out in a test or quality assurance system and then transported to the production system after successful testing. Two tenants (test and production) are created on the BTP and connected to the respective source systems. So the above steps need to be performed twice (2x). Once for the test tenant / QAS system and a second time for the production tenant / system. Settings in the source systems must be transported to the other systems.
