Objective
This is an overview of the available apps in SAP Marketing Cloud that enable marketing administrators to efficiently monitor and manage marketing data and background processes.
Let's take a closer look at the capabilities of each of the apps.
We recommend that you use the Data Load Monitor app to preform error analysis on a regular basis, eliminate frequent causes of error, and so optimize the quality of your data imports.
Watch the following video to learn how to use Data Load Monitor to trace import warnings and errors, and how to return an import after resolving the root cause:
Please check out more videos about data load here.
Within the Marketing Application Jobs app, job templates support the data privacy aspects that are required to delete contact data in certain cases, e.g. based on retention periods.
Deleting interaction contacts in SAP Marketing Cloud is a two-step process. First you have to flag the contacts for deletion via the available application jobs listed on the slide. Once data is flagged for deletion, it is not visible anymore in the application. In the second step, you then delete the flagged contacts which are again executed via application job.
If you have follow-on processes for which deletion information could be relevant, we strongly recommend that you schedule the dates of the deletion jobs far enough apart from the flag for deletion jobs. For example, do not schedule them to run on the same day. In this way, other processes, like integrations using API OData Services that run between the two dates, can react to the fact that contacts or IDs have been flagged for deletion. For more information, please refer to this documentation.
You can delete interactions that are no longer needed by using this template, Interactions: Delete Interactions.
The template selects interactions based on the parameters you set. From a technical perspective, the interactions selected by this job are flagged for deletion and automatically physically deleted from the system after a 30-day retention period. Such interactions are no longer available for other applications or processes. They are, however, listed as flagged for deletion in the Browse Interaction Data app until they are automatically deleted.
Note
The template Interactions: Delete Flagged Interactions is obsolete. Please use the application job instead.
For more information, please go to this documentation.
This application job lets you flexibly identify interactions based on a live target group to which they belong and delete them. You can use everything at your disposal in segmentation to create a live target group for selection of interactions to be deleted. For example, you could delete interactions based on your own custom fields or you could specify the date of the last inbound interaction as one criterion. Technically, the interactions selected by this job are flagged for deletion and automatically physically deleted after a 30-day retention period.
Prerequisite
You must create a live target group based on the segmentation profile All Interactions. You must enter the ID of this target group when you schedule a job.
