Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to describe Alex’s typical tasks in the Backoffice Administration perspective

Administrating the Site

Alex is responsible for correctly configuring functional aspects of the SAP Commerce Cloud environment, including access to Backoffice user interfaces, and to make sure each task is carried out by an appropriate individual.

Using the Backoffice Administration perspective, Alex will do the following:

  • Configure access rights to limit who can see or modify certain types of data, and ensure tasks are performed by the right people. She is also responsible for creating logins for new employees, resetting forgotten passwords, disabling logins for departing staff, and so on.
  • Configure data validation to limit the possibility of incorrect data being entered into the system.
  • Set up and configure workflows to limit which individuals can complete each step in the daily process of ensuring the accuracy and functionality of an SAP Commerce website.
  • Manage the site’s product search functionality by configuring facet searches, boosting products, and configuring weighted search result lists based on customer preferences.
  • Manage promotions to support marketing campaigns by offering discounts on selected products.
  • Field requests for information concerning orders, order entries, logs, fraud reports, consignment information, and so on.
