Campaign Automation in SAP Marketing Cloud

In this video, you will be introduced to Campaign Automation details in SAP Marketing Cloud.  Let's begin with the terminology that will help you understand Campaign Automation concepts.  A trigger can be seen as an event and can start one or more actions.  The supported actions are defined by customizing the campaign’s category type.  A trigger can have condition parameters.  For example, the link that was clicked.  An action can also have such parameters as the SMS form to be sent.  Campaign templates serve as a basis when creating marketing campaigns.  The template determines how your campaign is built, displayed, and delivered to the target audience.  SAP delivers some global templates, like Email, Mobile, or Facebook campaigns,  which you can use and tailor to your needs by configuring sections, actions, and triggers.  Once you design a campaign that suits your needs,  you can save it as a custom template for future use.  There is a variety of campaign channels to choose from in SAP Marketing Cloud.  As you can see on the screen, the channels include social media such as Facebook or Google.  Additionally, the campaign can be executed in an external system,  for which you need a specific campaign category.  Now, you can see a campaign’s lifecycle on the screen.  A campaign can have various statuses that denote its lifecycle.  When you create a campaign, its initial status is in preparation.  If you are using the approval workflow, submit the campaign for approval by your marketing manager.  After you submit a campaign for approval, its status changes to In Approval.  Once the approver releases the campaign, the status changes to Released  and if it was rejected, it then reverts to In Preparation.  Stopped is the final status of a campaign.  We strongly recommend that you set the status of all finished campaigns to Stopped once no further interactions are expected.  You can also discard campaigns whose status is In Preparation.  In that case, the status changes to Discarded.  Let's switch to the generic cycle of execution statuses.  The Execution status is available only after you start a campaign.  The initial value of the execution status is Not Started.  If the execution of the campaign is scheduled for a future date and time,  the status changes to Scheduled.  Once the campaign execution has started, the status is set to Running.  When the execution of all actions of the start trigger have ended successfully  and the next execution is not scheduled because the end date of the campaign has been reached,  the status changes to Finished.  There are two more statuses:  Error Occurred denotes that the execution of one or more actions of the start trigger has ended with an error,  and Paused indicates that a user has manually paused the running campaign.  As a marketing expert, you can design and execute campaigns that automatically react to customer interaction.  You can automate a campaign by setting triggers and actions to track interactions,  such as opening an email or clicking on an embedded link.  Use advanced scheduling to choose between immediate or delayed sending  by selecting specific days, specific date and time, or any day options.  The Campaign Designer provides support for e-mail, text message, mobile push notifications, File Export, and A/B testing, just to name a few.  Speaking about A/B testing, let's cover it in more detail.  With A/B testing, you can find out which e-mail message is the most effective for your campaign.  Here's how it works.  The campaign randomly takes members from the target group  according to a given test size  and distributes them equally among the selected email variants.  When the campaign has been released and activated,  it sends the different messages.  After the test period, the campaign automatically determines the most successful e-mail  and sends it to the remaining target group members.  As you can see on the screen, you can configure the details  such as test size, winner determination method, and test period.  While A/B testing is running,  you can monitor it using the View Results option.  In the campaign header, choose View Logs to view the execution details of the campaign.  The action status is represented by three icons:  Finished Successfully, Finished with Errors and Running.  When an error occurred during an execution,  check the entries in the view logs, fix the issues when possible,  and choose restart to relaunch the campaign.  Thank you for watching!
