Configuring Rules and Parameters in the External Validator in  SAP SuccessFactors Agent Lifecycle Management

Hi, I'm Brian. This video demonstrates how to configure validation rules and parameters in the SAP Agent Performance Management’s External Validator. To configure new validation rules and parameters, I'll begin by navigating to the External Validator, located within the Administrator portal. I’ll use an existing record that I have already created for today’s demonstration. I created a Master File for my first scenario. I named my Master Rule ID “LookUp Producer 2,” and gave the Master Rule name, the same title. And, I selected an effective date. After saving my entries, Related Entities, containing EVRules and Configuration Parameters display under the Master Rule that I created. The EV Rule container or External Validator Rule container, as well as the ConfigParm or the Configuration Parameter container, organizes the rules and parameters that can be configured for various scenarios. As a note:  A minimum of one EV Rule and one Configuration Parameter must be configured to activate a Master Rule. It's also considered a best practice to begin with a Configuration Parameter. So, I clicked the plus sign icon to add new parameters. If a parameter is required, I must enable the Prompt Required option by entering a checkmark beside Required. Once enabled, I must also select the appropriate Prompt Type from the available options. I have Text through Checkbox. And, I chose Text for this parameter. I'll Save my selections, Activate the record and then, Close the record. After I completed the configuration parameter, I then created an EV Rule. Again, I'll clicked the Plus Sign icon to create a new rule. For this EV Rule, I entitled it “Look up Producer 2” and chose this rule as my first, in a sequence. I’ll placed the number “1” in the Sequence field. There are multiple Rule Type options. I have System Defined, Expression, Groovy Scripts, and others. I chose Expression for my example. I added the necessary scripting for this rule by adding a Groovy Script in the Expression Editor. For this scenario, I created a “Producer Look-up Rule” and received two codes that are seen in color green. Code EV-016 is an Error code, which means the producer is found in the database, however this Producer’s status is Inactive. EVW-011 is a Warning code, which means the producer is located, however, more information is required or some of the critical compliance-related information will soon expire. After Saving and Closing the Expression Editor, I then Save, Activate and Close this parameter record to return to the Master Rule Detail page. I can see that the “Look Up Producer” record is now active. I’ll continue, by creating another rule for Producer Licenses and Appointments. There's a quick way to create multiple External Validator Rules by using an efficient Copy feature. To use this feature, I must open a “source record.” So, I’ll open “LookupProducer2” and then click the Copy button, located at the bottom of this window. In the new “copy” window, I’ll name my new rule and then assign a sequence. I'll name this rule “LookUpLicense and Appointment 3.” I'll enter the number “3” to make this my third rule, in a sequence. A new license and appointment rule has been created, however, I need to alter my script. To complete this, I’ll open the Expression Editor, erase the copied script, and paste the new script. With this scenario, my results will show an error code of EV-300 for “inactive licenses found” and a warning code of EVW-300. As I scroll downward, I see an error code of EV-400 and a warning code of EVW-409. These codes are for “inactive appointments” found. I am now ready to Save and Close the Expression Editor. Once I Save, Activate, and Close this new record, I can see the new EV Rule listed in the EV Rule container. I've completed the steps of configuring my new rules and parameters. Now, I need to activate the master record by clicking Activate at the bottom of this page. Because I have warning codes in my scripting, I need to configure Condition Codes that will notify Administrators of Producer licenses and appointments that will soon expire. I will first click the Condition Codes menu item. I need to create condition codes for EVW-300 and EVW-409. So, I'll click the Plus Sign icon to continue. I’ll begin with EVW-300, the warning code for licenses. I’ll select Warning for severity, and then click Save. I need to create a new and specific message for this condition code. So, I’ll click the blue folder icon. I’ll click the Plus Sign icon and will enter the ID of “License Found.” I’ll enter the same message in the English language entity. And, I’ll finish by clicking Save. I need to select this new message. I’ll click the blue arrow, located to the left of the Message Format ID. Then, I’ll Save and Activate these changes. For my scenario, I need to follow the same steps for the warning code EVW-409, for appointments. For the sake of time, I'm skipping this set of steps, but please understand that the configuration of the condition code for appointments is also needed for the accuracy of your future testing results. Thanks for watching.
