Content Versioning in SmartEdit in SAP Commerce Cloud

Hi, my name is William. In this video, we'll take a look at how Smart Edit supports versioning of content. Page versioning includes creating a page version, previewing a page version. Rolling back a page version, editing the details of a page version, deleting a page version, and the garbage collection of page versions which you'll find in the back office administration cockpit. But first, what do we mean by versioning in Smart Edit? When I create a version of a page, essentially that means I've made changes for page that I would like to maybe come back to later on. In other words, I take a snapshot of a page and keep it. If I want to create a new version of a page, I switch to the versioning view and Smart Edit. Click create Version and fill out the required fields. Let's say I have several versions of a page, and would like to preview a previous version of that page in the versioning view. I can select the respective version and its content will be displayed on screen. If I want to roll back the page to the version displayed in the preview, I can click the rollback button. The pop up informs me that by rolling back to the previous version, my current page content will automatically be saved as a new version of the page. If I want to edit the details of a page version, I open its options menu and select Edit Details. The pop up will allow me to change the label and description of the version. The options menu also allows me to delete a version if I create many versions. I'll eventually clutter my system, which may slow it down. Not a problem. SAP Commerce Cloud comes with a garbage collection process that periodically cleans up and removes old CMS version entries from the database. Out of the box. This feature is enabled and set to clean up the database once a day. You can configure this process in a back office. Administration cockpit. If you want to run garbage collection manually, go to CMS and then CMS version. Garbage collection process. Select an item from the list that has its process status set to create it, and click the run button. That's it for this video.
