Creating a Custom Data Model in Embedded Analytics for SAP SuccessFactors Incentive Management

Hi! My name is Lily. In this video, I’ll introduce you to Custom Data Models in embedded analytics for SAP Commissions. I’ll explain what a Custom Data Model is and how to create one with restrictions and one without restrictions. When a Customer is provisioned with embedded analytics for SAP Commissions, they receive 13 out of the box Standard/Stock Data Models. Embedded analytics also comes with 23 Stories built on top of the Stock models. So what is a Custom Data Model? Let’s consider a story and where you want to display data from: One or multiple tables from the TCMP Schema which are currently not part of the Stock Model. One or multiple tables from the EXT Schema. Or, a combination of tables from the TCMP/EXT Schema. Now let’s talk about how to create a Custom Data Model. We’ll look at two different scenarios. Scenario 1 has no restrictions. Scenario 2 has restrictions. In Scenario 1, you want to create a Custom Data Model with no data restrictions, everyone should see all the data   from Custom Data Model. It’s important to note that the Custom Data Model should have at least 1 Measurement For Scenario 1, I’ll show you how to create a view for Incentives as an example. First in Web IDE, I’ll create an SQL View in EXT Schema based on any combination of TCMP/EXT Tables. The view should follow this naming convention:  Note that the * From signifies that you can join multiple tables. Here’s an example. As you can see, CSA_Incentive_SVW_ABCD has been created in the EXT schema. In this example, Incentive is the View Name and ABCD is the CustomerCode. When you are done, work with SAP Professional Services to deploy the view as a Custom Data Model in embedded analytics. Once the view has been exposed, you will be able to create a Story based on the Custom Data Model you just created. In Scenario 2, I’ll show you how to create a Custom Data Model with data restrictions. Examples of data restrictions are: a Payee should see only his/her data a Manager should see his/her data along with Subordinate’s data or an Admin should see Business Unit related Data, Position group data, Position Hierarchy data, or all data. For Scenario 2 in Web IDE, I’ll first create a View in the EXT Schema based on any combination of TCMP/EXT   Tables with Structured Privilege Check. The view should follow this naming convention:  Here’s an example. As you can see, CSA_Incentive_SVW_ABCD has been created in the EXT schema. The next step is to Create Structured Privileges on EXT Schema for Data Security. This is saying, when you want to filter the data, how do you want to filter the data? Let’s say that you want to see a specific position group. For this, you will create a filter. This is the format to use. This is the format to use. Here’s an example. In the where condition you can filter the view data based on any scenario you want. To get the UserID from embedded analytics in your Where clause, you can use this format: Once the data has been created, you need to Add grants for Structured Privilege. This is the naming convention to follow: Here’s an example  of how to grant structured privilege. When you have created the view, Work with SAP Professional Services to deploy the view as a  Custom Data Model in embedded analytics. Once the view has been exposed, you can create a Story based on the Custom Data Model. In this video, I showed how to create data models with restrictions and without restrictions. Thanks for watching.
