Creating a Promotion Rule Based on a Template in SAP Commerce Cloud

Hi, my name is William. In this video, I'll show you how to create a promotion rule based on a promotion template using the back office administration cockpit. The advantage of templates is that conditions and actions are pre-filled for you, and you simply need to edit them. So in other words, this method of creating promotions is a time saver. A login as a marketing manager under marketing or select promotion templates. So how about creating a 15% discount on Sony products? To do that, I'll first pick the product Percentage discount template and then click the create a Promotion rule. Using this template button. In the new window I'll enter code for the new promotion rule. For example Sony percentage discount. Then I'll click okay. After the new promotion rule has been created, I'll click on it on the list and give it a more descriptive name. Then I'll complete the rule Management area. That means I'll select the website. In this case the electronics website and enter a priority. A rule with a priority of 500 will be executed before a rule with a priority of 100. Let's switch to the Conditions and Actions tab. Under conditions, I'll pick the condition named Qualifying categories and type Sony into the categories field. Note that there are other condition types that you can also apply for your promotion. You'll find them on the right side. The coupon code condition, for example, will help you to create a promotion for a single code or multi code coupons. If you want to know how to create those coupons, check out our dedicated videos on creating a single code coupon or multi code coupon under actions. I'll expand the percentage discount on products field and enter 15. As you can imagine, this will grant a 15% discount on all Sony products. By the way, did you notice the question marks above each field? They hold a code that uniquely identifies the respective field. The cryptic codes are universally unique. Identifiers are uuids for short and are used in the message field at the top of the page. This promotion message is displayed on the storefront when a promotion is activated. The message could also be used to inform customers of a potential promotion. For this, you would have to use the promotion rule together with the trigger rule message actions. At the bottom here. Now let's take a closer look at the message. We haven't named any specific products in our promotions, so we don't need the products to UID. Also, we only give a discount on one category. So let's change categories to category singular. So no matter which values the condition and action fields hold a correct message is going to be displayed on the storefront. Based on this field and its code. Once I've saved the changes, I'll publish the promotion rule by clicking on the button called Publish Promotion Rule for module. In the wizard that appears, I'll select a promotion module called Promotions Module and then click okay. Selecting the preview module would by default mean that you would like to preview the rule in the stage catalog to make sure everything is okay. For the purpose of this demo will be sinful and go straight to the online catalog, but do not replicate this at home or in a productive environment. So let's confirm that the promotion rule is working. I'll navigate to the electronic storefront and add a Sony product to the cart. The 15% discount is now applied. Thank you for watching.
