Creating Bill of Material Quotes in SAP Ariba Sourcing

SAP Ariba Sourcing allows you to create sourcing events for an entire bill of materials in a simple straightforward way. This video will guide you through the steps necessary for creating a request for proposal for a bicycle starting on the Product Sourcing dashboard. You can start by searching for the bill of materials name or ID. To initiate the quote, you can either select the bill of materials and then choose BOM Quote. Or another way is to access the BOM Details View and select BOM Quote. Let us now create the event. You first have to choose an event creation method. Please keep in mind the preferred method is currently guided sourcing. We keep the external system selection as is, and can choose which type of parts will be visible to suppliers and which ones they will be able to bid on. For example, you might want to show the entire bill of materials to the suppliers, but you only want them to submit quotes for raw materials. On the event creation page, we add any relevant header fields, such as Regions and Commodity, and select a template. The event type is a request for proposal. Template administrators usually have templates configured especially for direct material sourcing purposes. These templates contain specific material terms, like Lead Time or Supplier Part ID. They would also have the integration with the ERP setup in the follow -on document selected. The event is pre-populated with information coming from the template, but we also notice the Ad Hoc suppliers linked to the BOM have been added to the list. In the Items that Need Quotes section we find the entire bill of materials hierarchy starting with the bicycle which is the finished product and the components listed under it wheels, frame, and handle. Based on the site and template configuration, we notice terms such as Plant, Material Group and Material Code are available by default a BOM Cost roll-up term was added to the event this term allows us to calculate the BOM total cost taking into account all subassemblies and cost levels within the bill of materials.
