Creating Iflow for the Data Migration from SAP Business ByDesign to SAP S/4HANA Cloud

Hello and welcome to our Microlearning Session on Technical Data Migration from SAP ByD to SAP S/4HANA Cloud. As part of Cloud Migration Factory offered by Cloud ERP team, we have prepared a series of sessions to enable you with the technical data migration from source ERP to S/4HANA Cloud. In this chapter, I will demonstrate how to create your own Iflow for data migration. Agenda for this session is as follows. First, I'll provide an overview on the chapter, then followed by a demo where we will dive into the system. I am Sai Srinath, a Development Specialist in SME Customer and Partner Care team of Cloud ERP unit at SAP, based out of Bangalore. SAP provides iflow for standard objects with mappings of standard fields. However, as partner, you have to deal with the migration of data retained in add-on objects and extension fields of standard objects. Hence, it would be important to know how you can create a new iflow for an object that cannot be supported by SAP. We try to keep the approach simple with minimal effort on your side by reusing the existing iflow structure. In this chapter, I will demonstrate an example of how to create your own iflow to reach the last milestone in data migration. Let's jump into the demo where I will walk you through the process of creating new iflow, for example, customer object, by utilizing an existing iflow, for example, material iflow. Log into Integration Suite and navigate to the package with material iflow. Here you can see the iflow provided for migration of material data from Business by Design to S/4HANA Cloud. To copy the material iflow, click on Access button and select Copy. Once the dialog box appears, rename the iflow to customer. Then click on copy. Now we can see the new customer iflow, click on it to open. Before we continue editing the iflow, prepare few things. We need customer object migration templates for both Business by Design and S/4HANA Cloud. Additionally, use these migration templates to prepare the XSD accordingly. For additional info on XSD and how to get a XSD with help of migration templates, refer to Chapter 5 in the series, Updating Data Structures in iflows. Once everything is ready, click on the Edit button. First, delete the existing message mapping component. Then, add a new message mapping in place of the deleted one. Click on Create Option as shown. Give a name to the message mapping and click Create. Here, we add the Customer Accessory of Business by Design on source side and Customer Accessory of S/4HANA Cloud on the target side. Now, click on the Add Source Message button. Here, upload the Customer Accessory of Business by Design from local system. Do the same on target side with customer request of S/4HANA Cloud. Both data structures are uploaded, you can start the mapping from scratch according to your needs. Now go back to the iflow. Here we must change a couple of things with respect to business object. First, navigate to the initial content modifier and select Message Header. For OBJ name header its value should match the element name from the customer XSD of Business by Design. Just open the customer XSD, copy the element name and replace the source value of OBJ name header with it. Next, update the message body of content modifier with the name S4 Template. Select message body and replace it with the customer S4 XML template. Open the customer S4 Template in notepad or any XML editor. Then copy and paste it in the content modifier's body. Before you save the iflow, change the address in HTTPS. No two iflows can have same address. Now, your new iflow is ready for use. Using this approach, you can create your own iflow for any object in ByD to map it to S4HANA object. With that, I come to end of the demo. In this session, we have covered how to create your own I-flow to accelerate your data migration project. And here is what you can look forward to in this series of learning. Learn how to migrate data in S/4 HANA Cloud using migration cockpit. Thank you, and we look forward to seeing you in the next chapter.
