Creating New Terms in Guided Sourcing Events in SAP Ariba

This video will review creating terms in SAP Ariba Guided Sourcing events. Terms are used in SAP Ariba sourcing event line items to collect information from supplier participants. Terms can be used to collect line item cost information, such as price, or to provide information to suppliers, such as quantity, shipping terms, and SKU numbers. Terms can display calculated information about the item and be used within formulas that can be factored against other terms to determine an item's total cost. Terms can collect a single value or multiple values in many formats, including text, numbers, decimals, percentages, quantities, money values, boolean, dates, addresses, and both long and short answer types. When defining terms, project owners can also specify a range of acceptable values or a list of values to choose from. To create terms within guided sourcing events, guided sourcing must be enabled and the user must belong to the category by our system group and have project owner capabilities for the event. A term can be created within a single line item by selecting Add Terms under Actions, or it can be added across multiple items by checking the box next to the item name and then selecting the Add Terms button. To create a term and add it to all items, select the Add Terms button at the top of the item table. SAP Ariba preloads a set of commonly used sourcing terms and formulas or system global terms for all customers. In addition, your site may have global terms and formulas published in an event template that can be added to any event. In most cases, project owners might not need to create a new term and can use a term or formula that is already defined. Select create new term and then specify the format for the answer. Depending on the answer type, enter specifications for acceptable answers. Numeric answer types like money, number, decimal, quantity, percentage, and date allow you to specify a range for an acceptable value. The answer types text money, number, decimal, percentage, and date allow you to create a drop down with values for suppliers to choose from. To create a drop-down with choices for suppliers, select the number of responses the supplier can choose, either single choice or multiple choice. The plus icon adds options to the drop-down menu and the bin icon beside it can remove an entry. The include in cost field can be used to factor the term into the cost calculations or be left as no. Non-numerical values would need to be mapped for the formula calculations. Enter the value within the text box and add translations if needed. To the right, we need to check the values for if a response is required and if the participants can see this term. We see additional term-specific attributes, such as allowing suppliers to submit other values, whether they have initial, reserve or historic values and whether the supplier can upload attachments. If the term event uses alternative bid formatting, is the term editable and is the primary response also editable? The menu changes for numerical values and we then must specify how to rank the supplier bids if this is a competitive term and if the values roll up into the summary.
