Customizing Standard Iflows for the Data Migration from SAP Business ByDesign to SAP S/4HANA Cloud

Hello and welcome to our microlearning session on Technical Data Migration from SAP ByD to SAP S/4HANA Cloud. As a part of Cloud Migration Factory, offered by the Cloud ERP team, we have produced a series of sessions to enable you with the Technical Data Migration from source ERP to S/4HANA Cloud. In this chapter, I will demonstrate how to customize the mappings in iflow. Agenda for the session is as follows. First, I will provide you an overview of the tutorial and then we will walk you through a system demo where we will dive into the hands-on. I am Rithika, a dev specialist in SME Customer and Partner Care team of Cloud ERP unit at SAP based out of Bangalore. In this tutorial, we will learn how our partners can customize the standard mappings using the message mapping component within the integration flow. This component allows users to modify and define the transformation logic between source and target structures efficiently and also allows you to tailor mappings according to your specific business requirements. Now let's move on to the demo and understand how you can customize the standard iflows. Before you start modifying, always make a copy of the standard version. Click on Copy and click on Copy again. Once it's done, make the changes in the copied version. Once you've accessed the artifact, go to the edit mode. Now click on the message mapping to proceed. Head on to the processing tab. Click on the resource to view or edit the existing mappings. The message mapping editor shows the source message structure on the left hand side and the target message structure on the right hand side. After selecting a mapped field, you can see how it is mapped at the bottom of the screen in the mapping expression window. The functions toolbar will be displayed on the left hand side and contains functions to transform the content of the field. To modify the message structure, use the pencil icon on the right corner. To delete all the existing mappings, click on the delete icon. Now let's consider a few scenarios and understand how customizations can be done. Suppose we want to map a single field on the source to the target. Drag and drop the arrow from the source to the target field. Now let's consider the second example wherein if a field from the target has no mapping in the source structure, then click on this icon and assign it to a constant. And remove the text from here. Now let's move on to the third example where we would want to combine multiple fields into a single field at the target. In this example, let's combine title and academic title to a single field in the target. Drag and drop both the fields to the target. Since title and academic title are both strings, let's use the text option to do the modification. Choose the concat option, which concatenates two strings. Map title to string 1 and academic title to string 2. And add a delimiter to separate both the values. and map it to the target. Now, let's understand how boolean manipulations are done. Suppose you want the target field to have a certain value based on certain conditions, then we can use boolean formatting. Let's continue from the previous example. Suppose we want the target field to have the value of title only if the two strings are equal else the target should have the value of the concatenated string. First, let's check if the two strings are equal go to the boolean option and click on equals to. Let input 1 be the title and academic title as input 2. Now, let's use the if operation to assign a constant true or false value based on the condition. In our case, the condition is equals to. The true value will be the title. And the false value will be the concatenated string. Now, we'll map this if condition to the final target value. Let's use the date option to do the date modifications. Among the many options, let's choose date trans, which transforms the date from the input format to the output format. Map the source to the date and the target. You can do the modifications in this bar provided. We can use arithmetic operations to do the number modifications. For example, we can add two numbers and get the square root of a number. In this example, let's round off the credit limit to the nearest whole number by using the round option. Map the credit limit to the number and the function to the target. After the changes are done, click on OK and remember to save your changes and then test the mappings thoroughly before deploying them. If there are scenarios which are more complex, you can always click on the Create button and create custom functions that use JavaScript or GUI Script for the customizations. By following these steps and customizations, you can edit, manipulate, and efficiently update the message mappings within the Integration Suite to meet your integration requirements. In this session, we have covered how to customize standard iflows to accelerate your data migration project. And here is what you can look forward
