Exploring SAP Customer Identity Implementation Methods in SAP Customer Data Cloud

In this video, we'll explore the different methods of implementing SAP Customer Identity and the benefits of each of these methods. SAP Customer Identity helps you gather critical information about your customers, store that information securely, and leverage it for an enhanced customer experience. The customer identities and profiles can then be viewed in Identity Access and exported to downstream systems. There are three main ways of implementing SAP customer identity. The first is screen sets using the drag-and-drop UI builder in the console. Second is markup extensions where you can do full customization for front-end designs and backend user registration flows. Third is using the accounts API. You'll get full customization of front-end design and backend user registration flows. This is also the best route if you want to implement native mobile and desktop applications. In addition to these three methods, we offer service-side SDKs that create wrappers around SAP Customer Data Cloud's REST API and mobile SDKs which provide native programming language interfaces to the SAP Customer Data Cloud REST APIs. Please see the SAP Help Portal for more info. Let's talk about our first implementation method. Here we have screen sets and the UI builder. SAP Customer Data Cloud provides registration, login, and other flows out of the box which cover the majority of scenarios encountered when consumers log into your site. These user-facing flows are displayed as sets of successive screens, known as screen sets. By default, all screen sets are responsive and are automatically resized in accordance with the device on which they open. All SAP Customer Data Cloud's default screen sets support WCAG Compliance Level AA. The UI Builder is a web-based tool for creating and implementing user interaction screens. The tool comes with an easy-to-use drag-and-drop interface. It gives you the flexibility to match the look and feel of your site and tailor your implementation in terms of design, structures, fields, and content verification. Whenever you edit and save an existing screen set, it will be saved as a new version in your account. It makes rolling back to a previous design easy. DUI Builder also allows you to preview your screen sets on multiple devices. It provides a localization canvas for handling language translations, field mapping that supports a dynamic schema, CSS and HTML editors for custom designs, and a JavaScript editor for handling events related to the screen sets. Markup Extensions is the second implementation method. It provides flexibility beyond screenshots, allowing you to design custom HTML forms and use dynamic markup extensions that enable customer data cloud to power the rest. With Markup Extensions, you can do a full customization of front-end designs and backend user registration flows. In the Markup Extension scenario, the UI builder is essentially a markup generator. the generated code and tweak the markup code to meet your specific design and flow needs. The idea behind our markup extensions is that with simple markup and no code, you can define sophisticated UI and logic of user management and registration flows. Note the exported code from the UI builder cannot be edited further by the UI builder if you go this route. The accounts API is our third implementation method. This method gives you complete flexibility in terms of design, but that means you are also fully responsible for creating and handling the user flows while utilizing the strength of Customer Data Cloud's platform and data storage. The Accounts APIs are supported both for client-side JavaScript API and server-side REST API. We encourage you to work server-to-server whenever applicable.
