Finding Available SAP Fiori Apps - SAP S/4HANA Cross-Topics

Hello, and welcome to this unit on finding  available SAP Fiori apps. And we're talking about this in the context of doing an SAP S/4HANA  upgrade between releases. So, for example, from your 1511, 1610, 1709, or 1809 release, up to 1909, 2020, or  higher. My name is Jocelyn Dart. I am a User Experience Strategist and part of the SAP S/4HANA Regional  Implementation Group. You're going to learn how to find available apps in the SAP Fiori apps reference library, and in an  upgrade context we're particularly interested in finding deprecated,  successor, and new apps between your source, your current, as-is, and target, to- be, releases in the Fiori apps reference library. This learning unit is aimed at business  stakeholders, technical and functional consultants, user experience consultants, and  really anyone who wants to understand what's the difference between S/4HANA  releases in terms of Fiori apps. So, we're going to do this in a number of parts. We're going to firstly tackle the topic of finding deprecated SAP Fiori apps and their  successors. That's because these are the must-change  items when you upgrade. We're also going to look at how you find the new  apps, the new opportunities available in your to-be, or target, S/4HANA  release. And lastly, we're going to see how to find successor apps when the predecessor app is  still available. So this is where you can continue to run the old  version. But there's also a newer version. So we always recommend that you move to the newer version, the successor, if you  possibly can, because if we have a successor app, then any  new features, any new changes, they're going to be focused on that successor  app. But obviously, sometimes that depends on your organizational change management  options. The pace of change. Now, you can use this handy QR code to go  directly to the Fiori apps library, or you can use the link here, http://sap.com/fiori-apps-library. So, let's have a look at how you find deprecated  apps. And you can see here I'm on the Fiori apps  library. Now, that's the actual technical link. But if you go to https://sap.com/firori-apps- library, that's a much easier link to remember. And that will also get you to the Fiori apps  library. You just wait for a couple of seconds. And you'll get back to the home page of the Fiori  apps library. And here we are again. Okay, now to find deprecated apps, the first thing I'm going to do is use the main  filter SAP Fiori apps for SAP S/4HANA. All apps also contains all of the classic UIs, Web Dynpro ABAPs, GUI transactions,  WebClient UIs. So you can look from that perspective as well. But normally we're more focused on the Fiori apps when it comes to what's being  deprecated and what's new. Because of course, that's the new user  experience and the classic UIs have been around for a  while. Okay, so let's go to Fiori apps for SAP  S/4HANA. And here, I'm just going to go to all apps. Now, you can filter it down. If you have a reliable list of which apps you're  using, you can preselect those first. But I like to do this fairly quick and easy. So, one thing you can do here is just use this select all button at the top of the list. Select all. Okay, and then the button at the bottom of the list, Aggregate. What aggregate will do is collect up all of the  information for all of these apps to make it easier to implement  these. But one of the side benefits is it makes it a lot easier to see which apps are related to  which release. So that will help us in this journey. Now you see that once I've aggregated, it aggregates by default onto the current latest  release. So that's release and feature pack stack, and  you can change that release and feature pack stack to whatever your  target happens to be. Now, usually what I want to do is look at  deprecated apps first, because these are my must-change  items. So you can see here on this release the apps  that are not available. Those are typically my deprecated apps. So, let's go and have a look at those. So you can see here these apps and you can see in the additional info, it tells you what's  happened with these apps. So why is it not available? So here you can see, for instance, it's  deprecated. You can see when it was deprecated. You can see when it was first available. You can also see the app ID and the alternative. So this means, this is the original app, this is the new app that you should use instead. You'll also see this link, successor also chosen. Now, successor also chosen is a very, very big  hint that there's a better app available. And in this case, this is the app you must move  to, because the deprecated app will typically no  longer exist in your target system. So if we look at the successor also chosen  dialogue, what this shows you is the changes. And you can see here in this dialogue, you'll see  the title of each section shows you, which is the recommended app, the  best app. And then below it shows you the old and the  new. So you can say here, for instance, approved  master data extended, okay. There was an earlier one in 1511, we want you to move to this one in 1909, which  is new and improved, and you say also quite often the app has a very similar ID, but just A or B or  something on the end. Occasionally there's a brand-new app or you might find an app is split into multiple  apps as well. So, this is a good list. Now, what I would normally do at this point, if I  want to discuss this with my business stakeholders, is I would use  this handy download button. So if you press the download button, what this  does is it creates a spreadsheet. So you can see here, here's my unavailable apps and I'll just open that  up. And you get this little message. That's okay, we just say yes and open up the  list. And in here you'll find the list of apps. The app ID, the link directly to the app. A few other details about it, such as which  business role it's in. You'll also find things such as which application  component it's in, if you need to split it up to various lines of business. And there's your alternative app. So this is the new app ID, and you can search in the Fiori apps library by that app ID. And here's one, for instance, where it's actually  been replaced by two other apps. So I would normally just save that to a file, saying these are the deprecated apps, and then hand that off to my team to have a look  at. Now that we've dealt with our deprecated apps, there's one last thing we need to do before we  move on. And that's remove unavailable apps. So we're going to get rid of the ones that are deprecated, that are not available in our  new release, okay, and that just leaves us with the ones that  are available. And of course, that's our starting point for the next section on looking at new apps  available in our new release. So, let's move to the second part of the demo. So now what we want to do, having removed any  apps that are not available, is work out, which are the new apps between our current S/4HANA release and our  target S/4HANA release. So in this case, what we're looking at is I'm  planning to move from 1709 initial shipment stack to 1909 feature pack stack two. So this is everything that's available in my target  release. But how do I know which ones are new, versus which ones I've probably already looked  at for 1709? So what you do here is simply change the  version back to your source release. So in this case, 1709 initial shipment stack, I'll just go back to here. And what you can see straight away is, ah, these apps were already available in 1709. And these apps are new since 1709. These are the ones that I will get as part of my  new target S/4HANA release, 1909 feature pack stack two. Now, you can see this is quite a big list. So let's go in and have a look at this list. And once again, you can see it's very similar, but most of these apps, of course, don't have an alternative because they are brand  new. You can also see when they first became  available. That's quite handy sometimes just to get a bit of  an idea of how old they are. And if you go down the list, you will occasionally  find situations like this. Now, you see here this one where it says alternatives available. So this is the other scenario where there's a  new app, but there's also an app that you might be using already in 1709 that  continues on. So when we click on the alternatives available, we see this display again, of which is the  recommended app and the two versions that are available in your  target release. Of course, we always recommend you go to the  new app, the successor. And you can see then which is the one you  want to go through. This is quite a useful display. I mean, the short form of this is if you see the link saying successor also chosen, it  means that's an old app and there's a better app available, if you see alternatives  available, okay, this is the newest app, but you might be using the older version, so you  might want to check that out. And you should definitely have a look and see if  you can use the successor app, because that's where our focus will be. Now, I also like to download this list, and because it's quite a long list, I mean, we  saw that there were 802 new apps between 1709 and 1909 feature pack  stack two. What I like to do is to download this list. So I'll download the list, just like we did last time, just using this handy icon in the  corner. Okay, and then once again, I'll open the list. Okay, so I'll just say yes there. And what you'll see there is the first available  information again. You'll see a few other details. One of the things that's quite handy is the  application component. So you also get the link, the app name, the app  ID. Now remember, the app ID is exact. The app name, some names can be quite similar, particularly if you're looking at version  one, version two, but the app name is always exact. Okay, so what I like to do with a list like this, because, you know, we just said there's  800 apps in here, so I'm not going to want to go through this one  by line. What I like to do is get this list and sort it. So I will do a sort and say, okay, my list has  headers. I will sort that by application component, which  equates to line of business. And that then gives me a breakdown for all of  my lines of business. And then I can, you know, pass the finance  apps to the finance people, the logistics apps to logistics people, and so on. Now, when they get this list, once you split it up, every single one of these  has a direct link. So if I just use that hyperlink, that will take me to the exact matching app. Just give it a second or two to work its way  through. Okay, and then you get some information on the  app. And usually you get things like a screenshot, some of them have demos, and you have some more other details. You should also notice, generally speaking, if it's one that has an  alternative, alright, so if it's one of these that has an alternative, we'll find something a little bit  simpler. Okay, then usually what you'll find is it will  mention predecessors and successors so that you can see that confirmed here as well. Yes, so there you go, so you see the list of successor apps as well. So that's also quite handy. In this learning unit, you found out how to use the Fiori apps reference library to find  deprecated, successor, and new Fiori apps between your as-is source  and to-be target S/4HANA releases. You saw you can easily create and download a  list of all deprecated apps and their successors, and you can find and download a list of new  SAP Fiori apps. And by the way, you might have seen the  related SAP business roles in there as well for your team to  evaluate. It's
