How to Set Up Master Data for Capacity Planning and Scheduling (CPS) - SAP S/4HANA Manufacturing

Hello, everybody, and welcome to MicroLearnings about how to set up master data for capacity planning and scheduling. My name is Marcus, Marcus Hothelt, and I work in the area of SAP S4HANA product success, co-innovation, and content here at SAP. During today's micro learning, we will see how capacity planning and scheduling is set up in a few minutes. We will take a quick look at the product master data, including bill of material, and then focus on creating a work center, routing, and a production version. The first step is to create your product master data, meaning you create your finished, semi-finished, and raw materials that you need for your production. In order to do that, you need the generic business role of prot master underscore specialist, and you use the app Manage Product Master Data or Create Material. Let's take a quick look at the created and prepared product. We start by opening the app Manage Product, Master Data. And here in the app we look for our material FG3 underscore CP, our Finish Good. and then we will return to our home menu. The second step is to create your bill of material. Use the generic role of Prodden underscore eng underscore disk to create your bill of materials and you do that with the app Maintain Bill of Material. In our demo example, we set up a BOM for Finish Good FG3 underscore CP that you can see here in the slides. Let's take a look at that in the system. In our second step, I would like to introduce you to our bill of material. We do this by going into the app Maintain Bill of Material. We will take a look at our material FG3 underscore CP. Here we see we have a bill of material usage of 1 for production. Let's take a look at our components. Here we see we have semi-finished and raw materials assigned. We can take a quick look at the header attributes for general data, for example, or additional data. By going back to the components, we also see that we have an assembly indicator, meaning we have a multi-level BOM, because for our semi-finished good SG1 CP we have a raw material side. And with this we are ending the second step and returning to the home screen. The third step is to create your work centers. Work centers are where production operations are carried out. Use the generic role of prodden underscore eng underscore dist to create your work center. You do that by using the app Create WorkCenter. Let's take a look at that, how that's done. Let's create our WorkCenter by clicking on the app Create WorkCenter. We need a plant, 1010 in our example for Germany, and let's call our WorkCenter turn1. Next we also need some basic data for the category, and here let's choose 001 as a machine. Let's move on to the next screen, and here we need to give a description for our work center. Let's call it turning machine demo. And then next thing we want to assign is actually a usage. And here we assign our task list types. And then when we scroll down, we also have to assign a standard value key, which is the basis to calculate our production capacity time. And here we use the standard one, SAP One. This is how fast you actually can create your work center. And now I would like to go into the app Change Work Center to set up the capacity and scheduling information for our actually capacity and scheduling example. So let's go into our plant again, 10.10, and turn 1. And here, the tab is actually, when we move up a little bit again, the capacity tab. And in the capacity tab, we can see that the capacity category, the first one is 001, a machine which came from our beforehand setup. And here we're setting up an execution time, actually the duration of setup, processing duration, and the duration of tear down. And there, we also use our standard SAP formulas. When we're done, we actually need to also set up the capacity response or planner group. In our case, this is the group A. And let's choose one for our active version and ours for the capacity-based unit. And let's say our standard available capacity is actually from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. And then also our capacity limitation is 100% and the number of individual capacity is one because we have one machine. One more important setup is the planning details section, Finite Scheduling. The system schedules operations taking into account the current capacity loads generated by operations at WorkCenter. This was actually then the setup for the capacity. And now we move to the next step, the scheduling tab. And here in the scheduling, we also need to assign a capacity category, which is also a machine, 001. And then we have execution time, where we also then set up the duration of setup, processing duration, and duration of teardown. And once again, we use our standard formulas. Once that's done, we can save it and this is all you need in the first place to set up your WorkCenter. The fourth step is to create your routing. A routing is a task list needed for executing the production, as it assigns your production steps to work centers. Use the generic role of prodden underscore eng underscore disk to create your routings, and you do that with the app Create Routing to create them. Let's see how that is done in the system. Let's create our routing by clicking on the app Create Routing. We need our material, FG3 underscore CP, and also our plant, which is 1010 for Germany in our example. Then we define the usage, which is one, for production. And also, we release this routing with the oval status number four. Next thing is we click on the tab Operations and define the operation activity by assigning a work center. And also we need to define the Control-key, to define if an operation needs to be scheduled and if the capacity and costing needs to be calculated. And for that we also need to define the setup times for our machine but also for labor. And here we put three minutes in. And you can also see that there are different activity types behind that for the machine and also the labor. And behind those activity types are also then the cost rates. So that was it. That was easy. And now we save. And this is how fast you can create a routing. The final step is to create your production version. For that, use the generic role of prodden-underscore-eng-underscore-disk to create your production version. You do that by using the app Manage Production Versions. Let's create and assign a production version in the system. Alright, let's finish our work by clicking on the App Manage Production Version. We enter the plant 1010 and also the material FG3 underscore CP to see if already production versions exist. they don't. So let's click on the new button and then here we enter our material again and our production version, let's call it 0001 and give it a name, for example production version number 1. And then we need to define the minimum lot size and also the maximum one and also the validity of this production version. So let's choose today's date and then also extend it into the future for a long, long time. In the task list, we connect the production version actually to the routing and enter the routing that we created a step before this one. also the group counter, which is 1. Here with the bill of material, we define the alternative BOM and also the BOM usage 1, which is the production usage type. And here in the repetitive manufacturing in the field production line is actually the key. This is actually the bottleneck that is used to calculate everything in the capacity and scheduling. So let's save our production version. And in the next step, I would like to show you how our production version is actually integrated into the master data. So by clicking on the app change material, I'm going to enter the material FG3 underscore CP. And by clicking on continue, we'll see the selection versions of views and I'm going to choose MRP4. You need to enter the plant. And here there's a button called Production Version. And by clicking on it, I can see the newly created production version. And also here in the Repetitive Manufacturing, I see the bottleneck, the production line. So with that, you created your production version. Before ending this micro-learning, let's recap what we have covered today. We learned that we need a product and a bill of material. Second, we learned how to create a work center and routing for your operations and production steps. Lastly, we created a production version for your production techniques and included the bottleneck work center. Alright, now it's time for you to apply what you have learned. Thank you and goodbye.
