How to Undo Last Post and Last Finalize Runs in SAP SuccessFactors Incentive Management

Hello and welcome!  My name is Varsha.  In this video, I’ll discuss two options in the SAP Commissions Pipeline;  Undo Last Post Run and Undo Last Finalize Run.  Before we discuss these two options,  I’ll briefly touch upon the Post and Finalize Runs in the Calculation Pipeline.  Post and Finalize are additional calculation stages in the calculations Pipeline.  They mark calculations from the Pay stage as permanent and finalize the period. Post Run sets all trial payments and balances for a period as permanent.  It transfers the payment information or the incremental deposit difference to the pay file.  Once a payment or balance is posted, the value cannot be changed.  Within a period, payments can be posted as often as desired.  Finalize Run closes a period for new payments.  No new payments can be generated for that period.  Any values that are calculated, are marked as a balance for payment in the next open period.  If you run Post or Finalize without an intent to close the period, you can undo them.  Undo Last Post Run and Undo Last Finalize Run options give you the ability to undo a Pipeline stage that was run accidentally.  These options will help revert the results back to the system state,  prior to running either Post or Finalize.  The Undo Last Post Run feature reverts the results of a Post Run,  resetting the state of posted payments and balances back to Trial Payments.  It is recommended that you use this feature to undo a Post Run,  only if it was run accidentally.  I’ll now walk you through the steps to undo last Post.  To use this feature, you must first run Compensate and Pay for a period,  followed by Post.  For this demonstration, I’ve just run a Post Stage and it is successful.  Let’s look at the results of the Run.  From the Calculations menu, I’ll go to Payments and select one of the payments.  In the Payment Details section, I’ll click the hyperlink for the amount earned in the period.  On the right, I see the Earning Code, Value, and the current date as the Posted Date.  Now, let’s go back and run Undo Last Post Run.  I’ll go to the Pipeline workspace and click Run a Pipeline icon.  I’ll select the first options, Run a compensation calculation for all sales deals and click Next.  I’ll leave the default for the period and click Next.  In the Stages, I’ll click Undo Last Post Run.  I’ll leave the other options at default and click Next through the Logging and Schedule screens and click Start.  Once the Run is complete, notice that the Post Stage no longer appears in the Pipeline Summary Screen.  You can only see the last Run Compensate and Pay Stage and Undo Post.  Let’s verify the results.  From Calculations, I’ll open Payments.  When I click the amount hyperlink, notice that the Posted Date is moved and displays Not Posted.  This is the effect of the Undo Last Post Pipeline Run.  It’s good to know that there are limitations to the Undo Post Run option.  Undo Last Post Run will only succeed, if the last Pipeline Run was a Post Run.  However, it will fail if the period was Finalized after the last Post Run,  Compensate and Pay was run after the last Post Run, or the period has a Balance that will carry forward to a future period.  The Undo Last Finalize Run feature reverts a Finalized period to its prior status.  As with Undo Last Post Run, Undo Last Finalize Run does not delete results.  However, it will delete any balances created by the Finalize Run.  It will delete the Finalize record from the Pipeline workspace.  Undo Last Finalize Run will succeed, only if the last Pipeline Run was a Finalize Run.  It will fail, if the period is not Finalized, or Compensate and Pay was run after the period was Finalized.  Let’s go over the steps to undo the last Finalize Run on a period that has been Finalized.  I’ll go to the Pipeline workspace and start a Pipeline.  I’ll choose the first option and click Next.  I’ll leave the period at the default and click Next.  On the Stages, I’ll click Undo Last Finalize Run.  I’ll leave everything else at default and click Next through the rest of the screens.  Finally, I’ll click Start.  When the Undo Finalize Run is complete, notice that the previous Finalize Run no longer appears in the Summary screen.  That’s because the Finalize Run is removed.  In this video, we’ve discussed Undo Post and Undo Finalize Run options and we’ve successfully run the Undo Post and Undo Finalize Pipeline Runs.  Thanks for watching!
