Identifying Markup Extensions in SAP Customer Data Cloud

In this video, we'll go over what markup extensions are and how they differ from using screen sets via the UI builder. Then we'll use markup extensions on an existing screen set in the console. There are several types of markup extensions, all of which come together to create a complete working screen set. The first types of markup extensions define the screen and the screens themselves. First, a screen set is defined, then these screens are added to that screen set. The screens are primarily made up of forms. The forms are defined just like standard HTML forms, with the addition of proprietary classes, attributes and fields. Form fields have extra functionality. Containers include groups of fields, anchors, or HTML links. Widgets provide additional functionality to the screen, such as social login and Captcha functionality. And lastly, there are market extension types for both error state and error messages. Using markup extensions is just another way of generating screen sets to be used in your applications. However, there are a few key differences. Screen sets via markup extensions have a higher level of customizability. However, with that comes a higher level of complexity space. With markup extensions, you'll be editing HTML directly. You'll have control over which proprietary markup and attributes are included in your screen sets. Using markup extensions also provides additional functionality for more complex user workflows like progressive profiling or conditional workflows. With markup extensions, you can either use an existing screen set or you can start from scratch. For this demo, we'll use markup extensions on an existing screen set from in the console. First, login to the console. Then select the site from which you want to make changes to the screen. Set. Navigate to the UI builder under User Interfacing on the left hand menu. Click on the three dot actions menu of the target screen set and then select Advanced Customization. This provides you with a dialog that has both the HTML document of the screen. Set the CSS style sheet as well as JavaScript parameters and localization buttons. You can copy the HTML and CSS codes into your favorite text editor. Make changes and then paste them back into the same dialog box so that you can later use them on your applications. It's important to note that once the advanced customization dialog is saved, even without making any changes, the UI builder can no longer assume that the screen set markup is UI builder compatible, and therefore the UI builder will be disabled. It's a recommended best practice to duplicate the screen set you're planning on making edits to, in order to always have a backup copy. Thank you for watching.
