Installing Recipes in SAP Commerce Cloud

Hi!  In this video, I'm going to give you a quick introduction to the SAP Commerce Installer.  The SAP Commerce Installer uses a set of Gradle-based projects written in Groovy with the intention of automating the otherwise labor-intensive installation steps.  That said, a fully audited manual installation is always recommended when configuring a Production environment.  Each Gradle-based project is an automated script called a ‘recipe’, and will install a particular flavor of SAP Commerce. That's to say SAP Commerce with the required build structure and configuration for, say, the B2C Accelerator, the Telco Accelerator, or Data Hub.  A recipe contains all the setup data needed to install a given configuration and so will include: The three mandatory tasks: setup, initialize and start  Calls to required plugins such as installer-platform-plugin.jar  The Local Properties config The required extensions The Database configuration The Web archives and The AppServer setup  I want to show you how to write a new recipe and use it in the SAP Commerce Installer. For simplicity, I'm not going to write the recipe from scratch. It will be much easier to just modify a predefined one.  First of all, let's navigate to the home directory where we unzipped SAP Commerce, then drill down to installer/recipes/ and create a new folder named 'recipe_demo'.  Note that the name of this folder will be the name of your recipe.  Then we'll copy an existing build.gradle and readme.txt to this folder.  Now I'm going to add a new property 'demo.recipes' with value 'true' to the new recipe.  Open build.gradle in any text editor  then add: property 'demo.recipes', and 'true' in the localProperties section,  and finally, make sure to Save your changes.  I'm now going to use this new recipe to install SAP Commerce.  Go to hybris-home installer in any command line window and install SAP Commerce by running this command for Mac,  and this command for Windows.  Once the installation has finished successfully, we'll use this new recipe to initialize SAP Commerce by running this command on Mac  and this command on Windows.  Again, once the initialization has finished successfully, which may well take 15 minutes or so, let's use this new recipe to startup SAP Commerce by running this command on Mac  and this command on Windows.  Once the server start-up has completed,  I'll go to a browser,  open the Hybris Administration Console,  log in as an "admin",  and navigate to the Platform tab,  then click Configuration.  Now let's enter "demo" in the search box,  and the property demo.recipes with value true will be displayed.  More details can be found in the "SAP Commerce Help pages".
