Introducing the E-Commerce Insights Dashboard in Dynatrace for SAP Commerce Cloud

Hi. In this video, I'm going to give you an overview of the SAP E-Commerce Insights Dashboard, including information about the included tiles frequently asked questions, and troubleshooting guidance. At SAP Commerce Cloud, customers have access to several standard pre-configured dashboards included with the Commerce Cloud environment that monitor its system and business health. One of these dashboards is the SAP E-Commerce Insights Dashboard, which provides a collection of business metrics designed to give insight into how the customer's commerce business is performing. This dashboard integrates product, customer, and order data into one central location to help customers track and understand their user behavior, traffic, and order patterns. All this insight comes included with the Commerce Cloud environment and nothing additional needs to be purchased. It works for all customers that use the standard Commerce cloud implementation, meaning that they use one of the SAP Commerce cloud accelerators and haven't heavily customized the code in a nonstandard way. To view the E-Commerce Insights Dashboard, select dashboards from the Dynatrace navigation menu, click on SAP E-commerce insights. There are two main sections sales funnel on the left and Store Insights on the right, all the way to the right. There is a detailed textual description of each of these sections and their included metrics. You can change the time selector to see the metrics for various time ranges. You can click on any tile to see the metric information in a larger format. The sales funnel metrics are designed to show Commerce Cloud customers how many users are visiting their store, looking at products, adding products to their carts, and placing orders. This helps provide insight into not just how many users are performing these actions, but also into the conversion between these milestones of a typical sales journey. Let's discuss some of the individual sales funnel metrics. Total page views represents the sum of how many times any user on the site loaded any page successfully. The browse product metric is the sum of how many times the product details page was accessed for a specific product. Add to cart and place order metrics are the sum of each of those respective actions on the site. Revenue breakdown shows you a breakdown of your revenue by channel and currency. Top Interested Products shows the most popular products by their product codes. Top page controller and slowest page controller are interesting both for business and technical reasons. A controller typically corresponds to a single page on the storefront. By looking at these metrics. You can identify which pages are getting the most traffic and which pages take the longest to load for their users. It is helpful for the business to understand the most popular parts of the site. For marketing strategies, and it's useful for the technical team to understand where performance adjustments should be made to increase conversion. The Store Insights metrics provide customers information about total revenue, average value of each order, average number of items per order, how many new users signed up, and how many users are logging into checkout versus doing a guest checkout. There are a few caveats and important things to know. Revenue is an estimate as it doesn't consider factors like returns. Also, if your site uses multiple currencies, the revenue metric will only show revenue in the currency that has the highest number. For other currencies, you can just look at the revenue breakdown metric. If you see titles that say no data available, and changing the time selector does not produce data. It is likely that a nonstandard implementation is being used for that metric. For example, if you don't see data in new registrations, it may be because you are managing your user data in a third party system, or if you don't see data in another metric, it might be because the customers developers did not implement or customize that feature using standard best practices. There is a possibility that this issue could also be caused by the Commerce Cloud instances not being fully monitored by Dynatrace or a configuration issue, and if that is the case, the customer will need to open a ticket. The most frequently asked question we receive is if the E-Commerce Insights Dashboard can be changed or extended with new or different metrics. The general answer is that because this dashboard is an SAP provided dashboard, it cannot be edited. This is due to how all SAP provided dashboards are automatically provisioned with every customer's commerce cloud environment, and we don't have customer specific versions of dashboards due to the extreme maintenance overhead that it would cause. We recommend that instead, the customer cloned the E-Commerce Insights Dashboard and then make edits to the cloned copy. The customer is limited to using already existing metrics in the environment for any custom dashboard for similar reasons as previously mentioned. Although there are currently over 2000 metrics from which to choose, if there is a need for a customer metric in the E-Commerce Insights Dashboard that is not already provided, the customer can work with their Customer engagement executive and open a ticket to request this metric be added. SAP will review the request, and if it is determined that the metric is applicable to many SAP Commerce Cloud customers, then it will be added and pushed out to all of the environments. Custom metrics that are not applicable to multiple customers will not be considered for inclusion. Here is a list of frequently asked questions with their answers. Thank you for watching.
