Introducing the Process and System Landscape in the SAP Business Technology Platform for Integration between SAP Sales Cloud and SAP BTP Kyma Runtime

Hello and welcome to How to extend SAP Sales Cloud in Kyma. In this playlist you will learn all the steps necessary to create a serverless function in Kyma that extends the sales quotes functionality in SAP Sales Cloud. We will start with an overview of the process and the system landscape. In the next step, you will learn how to set up the integration between SAP Sales Cloud and the SAP Kyma Runtime in the SAP Business Technology Platform. The second video will show you in detail how to implement a serverless function in the SAP Kyma Runtime that reacts to an event from SAP Sales Cloud and reads additional data from the S/4HANA Cloud system. The third video contains a system demo showing you the steps in SAP Sales Cloud and how to verify the execution in the logs of the SAP Kyma runtime environment. Let's start with an overview of the process. In this process, we will use the SAP Sales Cloud system as the system that triggers the serverless function in SAP Kyma runtime. The function itself reads the quote and its item from SAP Sales Cloud, it reads additional data from SAP S/4HANA Cloud, and finally updates the quote item in SAP Sales Cloud. The steps in detail are 1. The creation of a sales quote in SAP Sales Cloud triggers the event quote created. The serverless function is subscribed to this event and therefore is started when the event is raised. 2. With a sales quote ID from the event, the serverless function reads the sales quote and sales quote item using the ODataQuote API of SAP Sales Cloud. 3. With the product ID from the sales quote item, the serverless function calls the product API of S/4HANA Cloud to retrieve the country of origin. 4. The serverless function updates the sales quote item in SAP Sales Cloud with a patch operation. In the next step, the SAP Sales Cloud is registered in SAP Business Technology Platform. The focus in this video is on the integration of SAP Sales Cloud with SAP Kyma Runtime. Therefore, the registration of the SAP S/4HANA Cloud system is not shown. To register the SAP Sales Cloud system in SAP BTP, you go to the global account of your SAP BTP and select the system landscape. Click on Add System in the upper right. Enter a meaningful name for your SAP Sales Cloud system and select the type SAP Cloud for Customer. Click on Add. You will receive a message that the system was created successfully. In the message, click on Get Token to receive the registration URL that needs to be entered in SAP Sales Cloud in the next step. Close the overview of the registered SAP Sales Cloud system and select the tab Formations. To be available in SAP Kyma Runtime, the SAP Sales Cloud system needs to be added to a formation. A formation is a logical grouping of SAP systems that can be extended in a business scenario. Formations allow you to combine SAP solution systems and a sub-account in SAP BTP to simplify the connectivity setup and to provide a unified view of all components required for the implementation of your extension scenario. Click on Create Formation to start the process. In the wizard, enter a name for your formation, select the type Side-by-side extensibility with Kyma, then select the SAP BTP subaccount in which the SAP Kyma runtime that you want to use to implement your extension is activated. In the next step, include the system that you created in the previous step. Click on Create to finalize the creation of the formation. After the SAP Sales Cloud system has been created in the SAP BTP system landscape, the registration needs to be finalized in the SAP Sales Cloud system. Log on to the SAP Sales Cloud system and navigate to General Settings in the Administrator section of the menu. In the General Settings screen, open the settings for Event Notification in the System Administration area. Here, select the Add function to add the SAP BTP endpoint as a new consumer. In the dialog, select the type SAP BTP extension and enter a meaningful name. In the field Remote Environment URL, the full token generated during the system creation in the SAP BTP system landscape needs to be entered. For the callback user, use a business user. This user is later used by the serverless function in SAP Kyma Runtime to access the OData API of SAP Sales Cloud. Provide username and password, then save the consumer. By adding the consumer, the SAP Sales Cloud system can now send events to the SAP Kyma Runtime. Which events are sent is defined in the next step. Select the newly created consumer and click Add in the Subscriptions section. In the following dialog, it is defined which events of a specific node of a business object should be sent. This is called a subscription. In our case, we use the root node. This is the quote on header level. But also events for parts of the quote, for example items or text, could be selected. Select business object sales quote, node root and activate the subscription for created. Save the subscription. This concludes the demo in this video. In the next video the implementation of the Kyma function will be shown.
