Managing a Static File Set in SAP Commerce Cloud Portal

Hi, my name is Tomasz Papiernik. In this video, I’m going to show you how to create and delete a static file set in the SAP Commerce Cloud Portal. You will also learn how to add static files to your endpoint or remove them if they are no longer needed. A static file is a file that improves the performance of a website, reducing its load and runtimes. These files, once created, are served by the website in the same, fixed form. I can use static files to set third-party system secrets, search configurations, sitemaps, and custom error responses. Let’s take a closer look. I am logged in the Commerce Cloud Portal as a Customer Developer, though I could also use the Customer System Administrator role. To create a static file set, I will start by selecting the “Static Files” tab in the side navigation bar. This opens a Static Files page where I can configure my first static file set. Before I do so, let me point out that all static files need to be bundled together in a single ZIP archive up to 1 MB. I will now click the "Create" button to enter the edit page.  First, I'll give my file a descriptive name and then I will drag a prepared zip package to the highlighted area. This file contains custom error responses which will appear on my website whenever a Customer fails to authenticate or is not permitted to access a page. I will also enter a comment, which will help me to identify the content of the zip file later on. Now, I’ll select the “Create” button to save the static file set. My configuration has been saved successfully, which is confirmed by a notification displayed at the top of the page. Now, I need to associate my Error Pages file set with a specific endpoint. I now go back to the Environments view and select the environment to which I wish to add this configuration. On this page, I can see the details of my environment, including all the available endpoints. Since I would like to configure custom error pages, I will choose my storefront endpoint by clicking on it. I will scroll down to the "Static files" section and select a file from a dropdown list. Here, you will be able to choose all the files previously created in the “Static Files” section. You can attach only one ZIP file to single environment endpoint. Once finished, I will save my configuration. When I no longer need the static file applied to my endpoint, I can remove it. To do this, I will select the “No static files” option from the dropdown list and save the configuration.  I can also remove the static file set permanently. Let’s check how to do that. Back in the static files view, I click on the “trash” icon next to the static file I wish to delete. Then, I confirm my choice by clicking the “Delete” button in the window that appears. A success message confirms the successful deletion of the static file set.
