Merging Search Profiles in SAP Commerce Cloud

Hello, my name is Marco. In this video, I'll show you how to merge search profiles in SAP Commerce Cloud. So, what are Search Profiles and why would you merge them? The Search Profiles feature included in the Adaptive Search Module allows you to create search configurations using facet and boost settings. Depending on the results you want to achieve, you might want to apply more than one search profile at the same time. For this, you can merge search profiles. Before we get into merging search profiles though, let's recall the two search profile types, that you can use Out-of-the-box: Simple Search Profiles allow you to define configurations that are used globally. This means the facet or boost is applied no matter which category you choose. Category Aware Search Profiles enable you to define a facet or boost configuration for a specific category. Each of the categories can have different facet or boost settings. Now, let's have a deeper look into the Search Profile Merging Logic: To achieve personalized search results and campaigns or to change global configurations, you can merge search profiles. In this context, merging means adding the selected search configuration to the parent one. You can add the selected configuration before or after the parent configuration is applied. If required, you can even replace the parent with the current search configuration. The merging logic works like this: First, if there is any category aware profile, its categories are internally merged. Then, the resulting merged profile can be merged with simple search profiles according to the activation list order. We 'll talk a bit more about the activation list order in a moment, so please bear with me. Next, if search profiles are active for customization, they would also have been internally merged in step one. The resulting merged customization search profile is now added on top of the result from the activation set merging in step 2. Finally, the result is displayed on the storefront. Well, it's time to see how that looks like in Backoffice. We 'd like to combine our standard category aware search profile with another search profile by creating a prioritized activation set. I ' ll open the list of Search Profile activation sets and pick the one I want to edit. On the CONFIGURATION tab under DETAILS, I can add a new Search Profile. Both of these profiles will be used to determine the combined list of search results. I can decide how that happens by ordering the profiles from top to bottom. The upper Search Profile will have a higher priority than the lower Search Profile. Finally, I 'll click the SAVE button, so that my changes can take effect. Now, let's look at the Adaptive Search Perspective. Depending on the search configuration item, the set of merging options can vary. In the configuration area, you can select options for facets, boosts and sorts. Facets and Sorts have three options: The Before inherited option means that the configuration is merged before all of the parents configurations. The After inherited option means that the configuration is merged after all of the parent configurations. The Remove inherited option means that the configuration replaces all the parent configurations. For Boosts, you 'll only get two options: The keep inherited option adds current items to parent configurations And the remove inherited option is used to replace the parent configuration with the current configuration. And that's all for now, thanks for watching.
