MRP Situations - SAP S/4HANA Manufacturing

Hi there and welcome to openSAP  Microlearning about MRP situations. Do you want to know how to implement the prerequisites for material exceptions? Do you want to understand MRP situations? If the answer is yes, then this micro learning is right for you. I am Markus, Markus Oertelt, from SAP engineering. This microlearning covers the following: How to implement the prerequisites in order to use MRP situations, a demo that answers the most frequent asked questions about MRP situations. Before starting the demo, let's take a look at the MRP situation flow. First, the process starts with linking the list of users who are supposed to receive material exception notifications. Second, the initial stock has changed to create a situation. Third, the MRP situation is detected. Forth, the situation types are checked and a notification triggered. Last but not least, but fifth, the material exceptions are checked and reacted to. Alright, let's take a look at the system. First thing in the system we want to do is we want to set up the preliminary steps for easier purposes. I have done that in the system already and here in the app manage teams and responsibilities, you can see the responsibility definitions, the MRP controller, MRP material and also the MRP plant that is used. Also team owners are defined. And with that, this is the first step you have to do in the system for MRP exceptions. Then next we go into the app Manage Situation Types. Here you have that situation templates, but also the situation types. We go into the Manage Situation Types app, search for MRP and here we found the one already set up in the system. And you have the admin information and the conditions. You find actually the Send Notification 'Yes' and open Set to Status.  Here's the batch job scheduling and also the situation display, so the message preview can be seen. You can also check out the recipients. Who do we have setup in the first step, which was shown shortly before this step. And this, you can go back to the admin information and see that the status is enabled. And with that, the situation type is set up. Next, we want to check the initial situation. We go into the app Monitor Material Coverage. Look on material TG0011. You go into the manage materials app in our stock requirements list. And here we see that we have 634 pieces on stock. Now, in order to raise the situation, we want to increase our stock level. So here, our materiality TG0011. As you have seen, we have 634 pieces and we want to increase the stock by 500 pieces. So 500 pieces just came into inventory. And the material document was just created. And now we have 1,134 pieces on stock. So now what is happening? So let's go back into our stock requirements list, the app Monior Material Coverage, and here, we checkout our material again. And we can say the safety stock, the quantity, the stock. And here you can see on the 1st of December, we have 500 pieces. So now the system should create a situation because we have too much stock and we do not need to buy more stock. So let's schedule this job here and the MRP Situation Handling app. And here we say, we just want to have a single run for this demo purpose. And to have the parameters, the material is TG0011 and the MRP controller is 001. Our plant is 1010. And we can schedule the whole thing. Let's take a look. If it is successful, at the moment, it's in process, now, it's finished. And we can also take a look at the results. And here the results are very interesting because we have a canceled process for this quantity that is portrayed there for the purchase requisitions. So now we want to check the situation type again for a triggering the notification. We go into the situation type. Here we look for MRP again. Once we have found our situation type, we go in it. Here, in the situation type itself, we can now trigger the situation. And once the background job is running for our situation here, we can see that it has been successfully run. And now and the system itself, the MRP material exceptions are shown. So now the purchase requisition is canceled. And when we click on it, we go into the stock requirements list. You can see the material exception as seen in the previous step. And now we can close the situation and the situation has been resolved. The purchase requisition has been canceled. With that, we come to an end. What did we learn today? In this microlearning, we covered the following topics: Which prerequisites are important for MRP situations? We created, detected and checked MRP situations and reacted to material exceptions. If you want to know the latest and greatest about planning strategies, then check out this expert talk. And of course, all other open SAP additional learnings that are available. Stay tuned, stay well and see you next time. All the best and goodbye.
