MRP Time-dependent Safety Stock Levels - SAP S/4HANA Manufacturing

Hi there and welcome to openSAP Microlearning about MRP time-dependent safety stock levels. Do you want to know all about time-dependent safety stock and time-dependent base of supply, then this session is right for you. I am Markus, Markus Oertelt from SAP engineering. This microlearning covers the following: How to maintain MRP safety stock method and material, how to maintain time-dependent safety stock, and how to maintain time-dependent days of supply. Alright, let's take a look at the system. Alright, let's first check the initial situation in the stock requirements list. First, we look at our material, TG0099. And by clicking on Manage Materials, we see that we do not have any stock requirements in our list, so everything is zero. This is our initial start. Next, we want to set up the master data. So we go into our product here in the app Manage Product Master Data. And in the material itself, we look at the plants. Here, in the plants, we see we have nine and the first one we are interested in, in the plant 1010. And then this plant, we first have to click on Edit. And in this plant we go to the MRP data here. And here we have the tap lot size data or section. In here you can see the MRP safety stock method. And for the first case we chose time-dependent stock levels. Next, we save the whole thing in the master data here. And then we can move on to the next step. Now, the next step is we need to maintain time-dependent stock levels. We do that with this app here, maintain time-dependent stock levels. And the first thing we want to do for our materials, we want to add a new interval here. From the 1st of October. We want to have 100 pieces of safety stock. So we created successfully here this first interval. And then we want to have another or new interval from starting in November, 250 pieces. And we also created this one. Those are two intervals. We created here, the first one for October and then second one from first of November till the end of December. And now we can do the next step. We go back to our material requirements list just to check how that looks. Now, we go back here in the Manage Materials. Here we see that we have time-dependent safety stock of 100 and also time-dependent safety stock of 250. See the quantities here. And we see that nothing is available. So with this, we can start the MRP run. And now, the MRP gives us two purchase requisitions to cover our demand. Now, we want to change the stock level and see what will happen. Going back here, we delete the interval in the app maintain time-dependent stock levels, and this one will also delete. So both intervals are deleted. Now, we go back to the main menu here and go back into the check material coverage app. And now we want to also check what happened if we deleted the stock levels from our time dependent stock levels. So here we still have our purchase requisitions and Yeah, nothing on the time- dependent safety stock. And if you run the MRP, you can see also the purchase requisitions disappear. Next, we want to do the second use case here, for days of supplies. You go back into the master product data app here, and go back to our plant, 1010, which is shown here in a second. Here. And here we go back to the MRP data. Well, first we have to edit it again, click on the Edit button. And then we go here into the MRP data and come back to the lot size data. Remember, in the MRP safety stock method, we want to have time-dependent days of supply now. We apply this. We need to save it as well. So let's click on save. The system is saving it. And now it's ready to be used. And now it's getting interesting again. So now for the days of supplies, we go back into our maintain time-dependent stock levels app. Here, you can see the safety stock method, which has changed and you will add an interval like before. So first of october, we want to have a safety days of supply of one and target of two days. And then you want to have a second interval, which starts in November. And here we want to have safety days of supply of one and a target days of supply of three pieces. So the intervals were created. And you can also take here a look, which becomes more important later. But you can see here two plus one is three. You have seen the calculation. It was fast, but this is how the days of supply are calculated. Then we go back here into our stock requirements list. And here you see nothing has happened because we do not have any forecasts. So now we have to maintain our forecasts via the plant independent requirements. So we do that by using the app Maintain PIRs. And here e.g. for *September, we want to forecast 100 pieces, October, 150 pieces. And November we forecast 200 pieces, set the version active, save it. And with that, we have done our forecasting. Now it gets interesting. So we'll go back into the monitor material coverage app, look up our material again, and go back into the stock requirements list. And here the planner sees the forecast. And we also see what's available and this situation does not look good. So we are in a minus of 450 pieces. Now we're running the MRP run. And now it gets interesting again because what will happen? The system automatically creates the purchase requisitions and you can see how that is calculated. Here. You see how those numbers are calculated. What did we learn today? In this
