Navigating SAP Fiori for SAP S/4HANA as a Neurodiverse user - Accessibility

Hello and welcome to this learning unit on navigating SAP Fiori for SAP S/4HANA  as a neurodiverse user. My name is Jocelyn Dart, User Experience Strategist and I'm part of the  SAP S/4HANA Customer Care and Regional Implementation Group.  In  this learning unit we are going to talk  a little about the needs of neurodiverse users  and I  have a very special neurodiverse user for you to meet. Useful accessibility features for neurodiverse users, and how to personalize your user experience to meet your  needs. I'll show you a little of that in the system. But first off, let's meet  Asha. My name is Asha Sreedhar. I work in the IT department as a quality associate and focus mostly on  testing activities like functionality and usability testing. I use SAP Fiori everyday as part of my testing  work, to  update contact details, view my employee details, enter timesheets, book leaves and so  on. I identify as neurodiverse and joined SAP Labs India Private Limited under the Autism at Work  program through Enable India.  My particular neurdiversities  include the following: light sensitivity, autism, and attention to detail.   To use the system more easily I need the following: darker colors that are  more comfortable, easy to read font, and personalization options to optimize efficiency. Thanks Asha. Now neurodiverse people are really diverse.  So you are really talking about someone who can make the most of the personalization that's in Fiori. One of the things for instance is a choice of themes so you can adjust the  color and contrast to your needs. It's useful to know that  Font 72 is automatically applied and is already digital readability.  You also have some other personalization options such as you can unclutter  your launchpad pages, you  can minimize keystrokes and save preferred settings, and you can adjust settings to optimize tables and charts. Let's have a look in the system. Ok, so I'm going to use a  generic test account,  the GL  Accountant to show you some of the settings that Asha can use to make her experience more comfortable. Now I'm  showing you this on a couple of different apps but these same principles  apply to a lot of the different  apps and features you'll find in Fiori.  So if you have light sensitivities like Asha, one of the first things you're going to want to do is to change the theme.  So to do that I go up to what we call the User Actions or Profile button, and up   here I simply go to Settings, and in Settings you see I can change the appearance. Now there are a number of themes available and your administrator may also   have created some additional custom themes. Since Asha prefers a dark muted theme she could go for something like   Quartz Dark. So, once I select that and say Save, you'll see it's immediately applied to the launchpad and that's much more comfortable.  You'll also see here all the text is shown is in what's  called Font 72 so it's quite easy to ready. Now the second thing that Asha might want to do is unclutter her launchpad. Let's see how that works. To do that I simply   come across again to the User Actions/Profile button, and this time instead of Settings we select Edit Current Page. In Edit Current Page I can adjust what I'm seeing. So for instance here I might want to add a  section, and I'll call this section Master Data and I'm just going to move  a couple of the tiles into the Master Data area - not  that one this one - and because  these tiles are quite large and yet there's nothing too interesting on them I'm going to convert those to a link which is just a little way to declutter my page. I can also do things like hide  individual tiles that I don't want, or even I can hide a whole section. I can also move tiles around to the order that I want, and I can even add tiles that aren't on my front page but maybe I want  them anyway. So let's maybe have a look at some things that I do here. Maybe I'll get something like this one and I simply add it and you'll see that's added  to the section here. And I go  back. So, I've changed this quite significantly, but don't worry, if you change your mind you can  always just reset the section and go back to the originals. Ok, so now I have uncluttered my page and it's nice and lean and focused only on the things I want in the order that I want them. All good! So let's look at some of the features that Asha or someone like her could use to  improve efficiency. So let's start  with an app called Manage Journal Entries that the General  Ledger Accountant uses frequently. And here we'll see a very common technique called User Defaults. We're seeing it used to default in Company Codes. You can see here that you can default more than one  company code. And this default values is a simple way to provide settings that you use again and again so you don't have to type them in. Let's see there's another field where  perhaps I  could use default settings and maybe something that I'd like to look at normally is asset postings that's code AA.  So  let's look at how these default settings are set and to do that once again we go to this  User Actions area or Profile button, and we go into Settings. Now in Settings you'll find your Default Values. In Default Values you can see that company code I preset. You can see I've got a main company code and  I can also have additional values that I can provide and there's quite a range of values I can provide. And these are used here I've got fields such as filters that will accept  ultiple values. In our  case we want to set the journal entry type. So if I go down to journal entry type here I can select asset  posting and make that my main journal entry type and if  I save that now. And  to make that take  effect all I  do is come back to the home page and then come back into Manage Journal  Entries. And you can see that's taken immediate effect. Now the advantage of default values is they're  used by all sorts of different apps. So, if for instance I go across here to a different app called Post General Journal Entries you will see for instance my company code - my main company code -  has been applied here as well. Let's go back to Manage Journal Entries and look at something else we can do. So, default values help if I need to preset single values, but what if I need to do a combination of fields? So, default values help if I need to preset single values, but what if I need to do a combination of fields? I can do that as well through something called Views. With a filter I can do that with filter views.  For example, this general ledger accountant once a month is asked to help out with period end by having a look at foreign currency journals. So in this case we are not interested in asset postings particularly,but we will have a look  through the Adapt Filters button and see if there's any filters that will help us identify foreign currency postings. So, here in the Adapt Filters dialog, I can just search and see what sort of filters do we have, and I can see the transaction currency will work  fine, and I'll bring that filter into the filter bar to look at European  to the filter bar to look at European foreign journal entries, so I'll simply search on European Euro - ok - and press Go and that will show me the ones that I need to look at for this month.  Now I want to save this because I'm doing this once a month so what I'll do here is - on this "Standard" area at the top - this is the Filter View area, I can simply save my current settings as a new filter view and I'll say this is Foreign - I'll just give it a name - Foreign Currency Euro Journals.  and I can make it my default but as I only do this once a month I don't want to do that.  What I can also do is Apply Automatically and that's like pressing the "Go" button Ok so now I've set that you'll see that's come up as the default view. Let's see how this works. If I go back to the launchpad now. When I  normally enter Manage Journal Entries I have my default  values which is standard with my asset postings. But once a month I can come along here and say well I liked to look at those foreign currency Euro journal and just by selecting the view it's reapplied  these new filters and it's automatically pressed the "Go" button too for me. Now just as there are views for filters there are also views for you can use to adjust other sorts of things such  as tables and charts. So what you're looking for here is that "Settings" icon. So in this case since I'm working in transaction currency I might  like to see the amount in the transaction currency.  So, here I can simply select the settings icon, and you can see here I can change settings for the table such as columns, sort, and filter. If scroll down here or I can simply search - let's see if I can find a currency field - there's a transaction currency and there's also a transaction currency amount. Ok, so I can show selected ones. And now what I want to do here is move those up a little or at least put the company code currency field a bit further down. So I'll simply move those around using the arrow heads and say Ok and now I can see it the way I want it, which is fine. And what I'll do here now is - on top of the table you'll see there's a similar views button, similar to what we had in  the filter views, and once again I can save this as a view. And I'll just give it a similar name just to make it easy to find.  And I'll save that. And that's where I can back  to the view on the foreign currency Euro journals the way I want it.  Now you'll find that the Settings icons, these little View options are in all sorts of apps So you've learned as a user you can use personalization to adjust your theme in Settings. in the User Actions menu. That Font 72 makes your text easy  to read on digital devices. That you can  adjust your launchpad page using Edit Current Page. You can minimize your data entry through Default Values and Views.  You can use Adapt Filters to adjust the filter criteria. You can use the   Settings icon to to optimize tables and charts. And we'd encourage you to be curious! And try other things as well! There's lots of personalization  options you can take advantage of in Fiori to make  your life more comfortable as a neurodiverse user. We hope this helped you.
