Reviewing Template Access and Ownership within SAP Ariba Strategic Sourcing

This video will review template administration access and ownership considerations within SAP Ariba Strategic Sourcing. Who should be assigned as a template administrator and what do they do? Template administrators maintain the standard and custom templates within SAP Ariba Strategic Sourcing and must be on standby to preserve and prolong templates used to create projects. Template administrators assume the responsibilities of maintaining template changes within the system as needed and may share those responsibilities with other process experts within the line of business. These users who share template ownership duties need to plan for maintaining the various templates across different lines of business and teams. How many template administrators are required to change the various sourcing, contracts, and supplier templates within the site? It is a shared responsibility, and companies should limit the ability to create and edit templates to users who want to define their workflows and procedures across each solution. Template owners need to be experts in their company's business requirements within the project lifecycle and understand how a template can support their needs without overcomplicating its design. Good template administrators collaborate with the users creating projects using their templates, are open to feedback, and can fine -tune their templates to make them more streamlined and successful. How is template ownership assigned? Project templates are administered by their respective template project owners. Members of the project owner group for an individual template are not propagated to projects created from that template. Instead, this is used to identify the users or groups responsible for maintaining the template. Where are templates located and how do I assign template ownership? To access project templates, authorized users can navigate to the templates area by choosing Manage on the dashboard or Manage in the Quick Links section of the For You dashboard for guided sourcing users. If templates is not visible under the Manage menu, likely, the user does not belong to the template creator system group. You will see the main owner in the templates area in it own column. To assign template ownership, an existing template owner must locate, open the template, and issue a new version to edit it. Within the team tab of the templates project, add the user as one of the users listed as a project owner. Once the user or group has been added to the project owner template group, the template can be published so the changes can go into effect. The new owners will then be able to create future versions of the template as administrators for this template immediately after publication.
