Running a Pipeline in SAP SuccessFactors Incentive Management

Hello and welcome. In this video, I'll demonstrate the steps to run a pipeline to calculate compensation in SAP SuccessFactors Incentive Management. Let's consider the scenario. I want to calculate compensation for all transactions and all positions  for a one-month period. Let's say, January 2023. I'll begin on the Incentive Management home page. From the review calculations tile, I'll select Run, then Pipeline. Then, I'll Compensate and Pay. This will start a wizard which will guide me through each step of the process. I'll select the processing unit and calendar. Then I'll select a period or a period range. In this case, I'll leave it at January 2023, then I'll select Next. I'm then prompted to select which stages of the calculation to run. By default, the four steps of the Compensate and Pay process are selected. I don't have to make any changes here. Optionally though, I can choose to populate my analytics data, defer the reset process, remove stale results from prior pipelines, or perform a data extract. Again, I'll select next. As I said, I want to process all transactions for all positions. I'll leave All Transactions selected. I can also choose to process only new or modified transactions, or I can process transactions for specific positions or position groups. Leaving this at the default, I'll select next. Every pipeline run generates log files, but I can choose to create more detailed logs by selecting advanced logging. Doing so allows me to set the detail level by selecting performance profiling, SQL logging, or verbose logging. While advanced logging will increase the pipeline time and the size of the log files, I can reduce the file size by filtering by position, participant, credit rule, or transaction. In this case, I don't need verbose log files. I'll select standard logging and again, I'll select Next. The Scheduling page allows me to run the pipeline immediately, schedule a one time future run, or schedule a recurring run. I want to run this immediately. Again, I'll leave this at the default. If my regular pipeline runs always use the same settings. I can simplify the process by saving my settings as a template. Select save a template. I'll add a name and description to the template. Then select Save. The Review button allows me to review my settings and modify them if needed. When I'm done, I'll select Confirm and submit. This starts the pipeline process. I can view the progress of the pipeline run in the user interface. I can also select the individual process to open and view its details. The Stages Breakdown shows details on each stage. When the pipeline is complete, I can select the Errors tab to view details on any errors that occur during the run. The Logs tab allows me to drill down to the individual log files for each stage. For example, let's say I want to see the details of the Classify stage. I can open the stage and select the Classify Log link. This downloads a text file to my local system. Now let's see how I can use the pipeline to run other processes. The Finalize and Post menu allows me to run or undo a Post process. Or run or undo a Finalize process. The Post stage marks payments and balances for the current period as permanent. While the Post stage can be run multiple times in a period, Once you have run Post, any existing payments cannot be changed  and any updates to payments are stored as an incremental amount. When a period is Finalized, any new values created by re-running Compensate and Pay for that period  will be stored as a balance. These balances will be carried forward into the next open period. Both Post and Finalize have undue options  that can be run if either stage was run by mistake. The Data menu includes options to import plan data and staging table data, Purge data from the staging tables, approve calculated data, reset data, and clean up deferred results. In this video, I showed you how to run a pipeline  In the incentive management user interface. we ran Compensate and Pay. Saw how to monitor the progress of a calculation, access logs, create a template, and run other pipeline types. Thanks for watching.
