Setting Up Shopify Plugins in SAP Emarsys Customer Engagement

Welcome! In this video,  we will show you how to  connect your Shopify store to your SAP Emarsys account  and demonstrate the data flow using a Shopify event-based automation. Before configuring the plugin, you need to install the SAP Emarsys app app and connect it to your Emarsys account.  For that, proceed as follows: Look for the SAP Emarsys Marketing Platform in the Shopify app store  and install the app. In the meantime, log in to your Emarsys account and create a new API user  on the Security Settings/API users page.  Save the secret and enable all field, contact, and event-related API permissions. You can use previously created API users  if you know their secret and  the mentioned API permissions are enabled. When the app is installed, set the connection to your Emarsys account by pasting the API username and secret. Now that your Shopify store  is connected to your Emarsys account let’s continue setting up Customers, Events, Products, Orders, and Web behavior tracking. The Plugin synchronizes all the data  needed for your automation, segmentation, and personalization. First, enable the upload status, which regularly uploads your customers  to the Emarsys contact database. Below, you can see the field matching where all the system fields are pre-mapped, and you can even map further custom fields.  Please note that standard fields are always synced  and can’t be un-mapped.  Custom fields are typically used  to synchronize the preferences of the customer which you can use for better personalization. If you also want to use SMS as a channel, you need to map the mobile phone number  and SMS opt-in to the corresponding Emarsys fields. The mapping can be adjusted at any time,  but changes trigger the complete synchronization  of the entire contact database (all customers). Note that data is transferred only one way: from Shopify to Emarsys, but email and SMS opt-in  are synched bi-directionally. You can transfer Shopify standard events  to Emarsys external events to trigger and personalize  transactional messages. Before activation, make sure that you create the messages  and automations in Emarsys. The next synchronization is products,  which transfers the standard product data. This is used for: identification of web behavior  (which products are viewed, abandoned, or purchased) And creation of product recommendations via widgets  connecting to Smart Insight to identify best-selling products and categories. The plugin synchronizes all the mandatory fields, such as item, product name,  price and availability. You can enable synchronization  of orders transferred to Smart Insight. Don't activate this function  if you don't have Smart Insight enabled. The last setting is Web behavior tracking: with only one click, you can inject the complete  Web Behaviour Javascript via Web Pixel to your webshop in order to: Track the behavior of your consumers and  get the standard “predict data fields” filled Update the data in the recommendation engine  for personalized recommendations. And have the key component for Web Channel  which is based on the Web Extend Header. Congratulations! You have successfully activated the Shopify Plugin and connected it to your Emarsys account. Now, let's check if  the data flow works as expected with the help of  an Emarsys automation program. In the SAP Emarsys platform, you can create a registration confirmation Tactic  to welcome the newest contacts.  Then, open the program, set the event, select the email you'd like to send and activate the program. To test the connection and the data sync, go to the Shopify store  and create a new account.  You'll immediately receive the  registration confirmation email you set earlier. Then, browse products  and do some activities, like adding items to your cart. It's time to check what  you see in the Emarsys platform. Look for the previously created contact, then navigate to the  Predict Data sources/Live events page.  Here, you will see your recent activities. You can also check the details  on the Program Reporting and Event Monitoring pages. So, the data sync works well! And this is how you can set  Shopify plugins for Emarsys.  I hope you enjoyed this session, and thank you for your attention!
