Setting Up Standard Connector for SAP Customer Data Cloud and SAP Emarsys

Hello! In this video you'll hear about the Standard Connector for SAP Customer Data Cloud integration for SAP Emarsys. The Standard Connector for SAP Customer Data Cloud and SAP Emarsys enables you to set up a connection between SAP CDC and the Emarsys contact database to instantly synchronize customer data and contacts into Emarsys. These synchronized fields may not only contain everyday data such as product preferences, but also opt-in permissions (called consents) and subscriptions to offers and newsletters. Also, you can build nice forms to collect all these from your customers. If you are a user of the SAP Customer Data Cloud, you will be able to keep an up-to-date profile of your contacts to leverage the SAP Emarsys platform's capabilities for omnichannel messaging. You can use these capabilities for customer onboarding, profile updating, consent management, and unsubscribe mitigation. If you already have the SAP Customer Data Cloud set up, the CDC Connector will only need your Emarsys API secret key and your API username. Your secret key is displayed only once ever at the API user creation. Also make sure to enable the required permissions for your user. A list of these can be found in the SAP Help Portal. Before setting up an integration, go to Advanced  > Schema to verify and create the CDC custom fields: subscription, consent and topic, which you'll then need to map at the connection set up. These fields can be also included in CDC forms where contacts can register or update their profile information. Then let's set a new configuration. In the SAP CDC console, go to Orchestrate > Integrations. The SAP CDC Console is able to support multiple Emarsys accounts, each with their own API users. These can serve different brands or markets of the same company. To set a new integration, complete the following steps: Click on the button. Define the name of the integration and enter your SAP Emarsys API credentials. Map the consent statement for the SAP Emarsys email and SMS opt-in. Select the custom CDC fields that should sync to SAP Emarsys. The current limitation is 50 maximum. If you have an existing connection, you can also delete the selected custom CDC fields from Emarsys by unticking the CDC fields here. System fields are mapped by default. Let's select the field we created earlier which will also include in a form later. Add rules to filter contacts based on the value of certain fields. For example, not syncing contacts who are opted out. Then just save the configuration. That's it, your connection is set up. You can later edit, delete, deactivate or resync your connections. SAP CDC will automatically start the sync of a set of customer data called standard fields to your SAP Emarsys contact database, but you are able to expand this list. Note that this is a one-way sync: Make sure to only update your contacts from the SAP Customer Data Cloud to avoid accidental overwrites. In CDC, only Consent for Mail and SMS, which are mapped to the Emarsys email Opt-in and SMS Opt-In fields are synced bi-directionally. If Commerce Cloud is also part of your architecture, customer data should be synchronized to Emarsys only via Customer Data Cloud. For a full list of limitations, visit the SAP Help Portal. Now, let's look at how to update forms and sync contact data. Imagine that you want to create a new campaign based on new information about your customers that is not yet available in the contact database. For example, you want to collect the favorite color of your customers. For that, you need to add this previously created field to a form: Go to User Interfacing > UI Builder. Select your form called screen-set here or create a new collection. Now, we will edit our default profile update form. Drag and drop the desired elements into the form or change the properties of the existing elements. Finish your form by clicking Save. We can see these changes at work in our CDC connected demo store. After registering in the store, we can see that a new contact is visible in SAP Emarsys. Following a page, reload, the relevant contact data fields are updated with the values from the profile update. Thus, these values are available for segmentation and personalization. For email and sms opt-in preferences, the update should work in both directions. For example, changing the “Opt-In” field in SAP Emarsys to “false” will also change the opt-in status in the CDC console. Additionally, you can be sure that if a customer request the deletion of their data, it is enough for you to delete the contact in CDC. In CDC, go to Identity Access > Profile > Actions and click Delete Account. After the confirmation, the contact will be also removed from SAP Emarsys shortly. These were just some of the capabilities made possible by the Standard Connector for SAP Customer Data Cloud. By combining the features of SAP Customer Data Cloud with SAP Emarsys, you can really leverage your contact
