Understanding Data Migration in Marketing Analytics in SAP Marketing Cloud

Welcome to part four of the Marketing Analytics Extensibility Video series. In part one, two and three you learned how to create objects in SAP Marketing Cloud and SAP Analytics Cloud, leading to it SAP Analytics Cloud story representing your data on a graphical dashboard. In this last video in the series, we'll talk about data migration. Data migration is an important step we need to take when it comes to productive usage of the objects we've created. Once we're done with the content creation and testing in our quality landscape, the data needs to be provision and activated in the production environment for the productive use. The migration for analytics content is divided into SAP marketing, cloud based data migration, and SAP analytics cloud data migration. For the SAP Marketing Cloud, we transport the CDS view and the query created to the appropriate production marketing system via software collections for the SAP Analytics Cloud part. We export the model and story from our quality system to finally import into our production S.A.C. system for the SAP Marketing Cloud part. We need to manage our software collections, accessing an application for initiating the export in the quality system. Here we have an overview of the status. Create a new software collection if needed, and define our items for export. For the production system, we need to pull the software collection in and activate it. Let's get started. Navigate to the Export Software Collection application. Click the plus sign to create a new software collection. If there is not already a collection available that we want to make use of, ad analytics items like CDs, view the query and the created app to our software collection. The system remembers and shows the items which have changed since the last export. This makes it easier to identify the appropriate elements. Plan the software collection. Export appropriately as it will take some time. Also, make sure there are no upgrade releases of the system scheduled as exports are usually not allowed during system upgrades. After the successful export via the quality system, you can enter the production environment accessing the import collection application. Review the collections that were pushed by the quality system and pull the data in. The items transported will be directly available and active after the import. Now we need to initiate an export and import within the SRB analytics cloud system. Using steps similar to what we used in the SAP marketing cloud, here we will select the appropriate content from our directory trigger and export and Re-import the zipped file package in the production system. After a preview and short validation, let's have a closer look to the SEC quality system where we go to export the created objects and all the related content. Navigate to the deployment menu item. Click export to select the appropriate objects. Search and select the appropriate story for export. The selection will lead to an auto selection of all related objects. Name the file export. This export function is not recommended for archiving purposes. As a tenant for export, IT import needs to be on the same version. In the target system, the SEC production system. Select the deployment menu item and click import to import content packages. Select the exported file from where it is located and initiate the import. This system will show a preview or a selection of the appropriate objects can be made. Specifying some import options, like updating and overwriting of identical objects already exists in the system. Select upload. Check the imported data from the history and make sure the data is successfully uploaded. It's important to use the same system. Connections and settings for the loaded objects like to find in the exporting system, as your production system should be based on your quality system. And that's it! Let's quickly review what we've covered in part one of the video series we started with the creation of custom CSV view. We use a custom business object as a base, using it as a primary data source. In part two, we created a custom analytical query for the CDS view and made it available for the S.A.C. system using the View Browser application. In part three, we created a model as well as a story within SAP Analytics Cloud to display the marketing query visualized in a graphical dashboard. In part four, we discussed the access and migration processes to make the data available for the production landscape. We've now covered the complete lifecycle, including creation and publishing of a story for the SAP marketing Cloud solution.
