Understanding Pipeline Results in SAP SuccessFactors Incentive Management

Hello and Welcome!  My name is Varsha. In this video, I’ll introduce you to the pipeline results data in SAP Commissions.  I’ll also show you the steps to view the results data.  When you run a Compensate and Pay Pipeline,  the results data for the compensation plans is displayed in the SAP Commissions user interface.  You can review the Results data to verify if the calculations are correct.  For example, once the calculation is complete, you can verify if the Measurements are calculated correctly and are accurate.  Let’s first look at what results data include.  To begin with, I’ll go to the Calculations menu. Here you’ll see the input data, including Orders and Transactions,  as well as the output of each rule that was fired during the Calculation process.  Each rule that fires has at least one result for each payee associated with the rule.  As you can see, results data includes Orders, Transactions, Credits, Measurements, Incentives, Commissions, Deposits, and Payments.  Orders and Transactions are input data; in other words, they’re either imported or transferred as a part of the data integration process.  They are not the results of calculations.  However, they appear in the Calculations menu, as there’s a logical flow from Transactions to their resulting credits, measurements, and other results.  Generally, the results data that you view in the workspaces are the result of a compensation rule.  For example, each time a credit rule allocates credit for a transaction to a payee,  a credit is created.  This credit will be populated with the data that was set up in the original rule.  In this example, the Output screen of the credit rule contains the output name, DC_Sales Credits,  and a Credit Type of Revenue. The resulting credit has the same name and credit type.  Other information, such as the assigned Payee and value, is also populated from the input into the credit rule.  It’s also possible to activate generic fields to populate results data.  To add custom results, you can activate generic fields and populate them with calculations in the rule.  In this example, an Incentive Rule was customized to include calculations for the quarterly Measurement, Quota, and Attainment Rate.  The resulting values are calculated and displayed in the Custom Fields section of the Incentive.  Now, let’s look at how easily you can view the results data in the user interface, after running compensate and pay for a specific period.  I have run Compensate and Pay for the first quarter of 2020.  To view the results, I’ll go to the Calculations menu and scroll-down to the last option, Payments.  This is the final result of the entire Calculation process.  I’ll select the payment for the Payee, Celia Bates, our Sales Rep for License products.  Using the Related Search icon, I can research the results calculated for her.  I’ll click the icon to go back to the previous result, such as Deposits.  I can now view the related deposit results.  I’ll continue to use the Related Search icon, to look up the other results.  From Deposits, to Incentives, Measurements, and finally to Credits. Each time I go back, I can view the details of the record for Celia Bates. If I want to investigate further, there’s an option to export the record to CSV or comma-separated value file.  Another option to view the results is to start at the beginning and work your way to the end.  Let’s say, I want to investigate the results data for Celia Bates, starting at the beginning. After running the Pipeline, I’ll start from the Organization menu and select Participants.  Here I can search for Celia Bates or simply select her name in the list.  I’ll again use the Related Search icon on the toolbar to go from Participants to Credits.  When I come to the Credits workspace, the data are filtered to display only the results related to her.  I’ve the following options in this workspace:  Click to Count, to count the number of credits,  or export file to CSV file to investigate the record in more detail.  I can select any Credit and click Related Search icon and go forward to Measurements.  The resulting measurement will be the aggregate of the total value of Celia Bate’s credits.  From here if I go to the Incentive, I can see the incentive calculated for Celia’s measurement and rate.  I can go on to view her deposits and payments using this option.  In this video, I’ve shown you how to view the Results Data in the Calculation menu  and also view custom results after running Compensate and Pay for a period.  I’ve also shown you the steps to use the Related Search option  to trace results from the Participant to the Payment.  Thanks for watching!
