Updating Data Structure in Iflows for the Data Migration from SAP Business ByDesign to SAP S/4HANA Cloud

Hello and welcome to our microlearning session on technical data migration from SAP ByD to SAP S/4HANA Cloud. As part of Cloud migration factory offered by Cloud ERP system, we have produced a series of sessions to enable you with the technical data migration from source ERP to S/4HANA Cloud. In this chapter, I will demonstrate how to update the data structures in Iflows. Agenda for this session is as follows. First, I will provide an overview of what this video entitled then followed by a short demo of the process. I am Sai Srinath, a development specialist in SMA Customer and Partner Care team of Cloud ERP unit at SAP based out of Bangalore. In this video, I will guide you how to update data migration Iflows with new data structure in the integration suite of SAP BTP for both SAP ByD and SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition. Later in the demo, we will update the customer Iflow for new data structure from SAP S/4HANA Cloud with help of template from Migration Cockpit. Same process can be applied for updating data structure in SAP ByD let's have a look at this process in the system. This is the migration cockpit here we can download the latest S/4 template. Once you are inside a project you can see all the migration objects available in that project to download the S/4 XML template click on the drop down in Actions column. Next select download template. Then choose download XML file. Once you have the S/4 XML template, open the template in Excel and save it once. Now to update the data structure in message mapping, we need the S/4 XML template in XSD format. Once we have the S/4 XML template with help of XML to XSD Iflow, we can get the corresponding XSD format. XML to XSD Iflow is called framework Iflow and it is available along with the data migration Iflows. To execute XML to XSD Iflow, send a HTTPS POST request via Postman to endpoint URL of the Iflow. In Postman, change request method from GET to POST. And enter the endpoint URL here. Provide the necessary details in the authorization tab. Next, select header tab in Postman. Create a new header with the name OBJ Name. The value of this header must match with the value of OBJ name header in the Iflow corresponding to the object in question. In this demo, we are using customer Iflow. Open the Iflow for customer in SAP integration suite. Select the first content mod for customer and click on header. Here look for OBJ name header and copy the source value of this header. Now paste this as a value for the header in Postman. Click on body tab and select binary option. Click on select file and browse for the customer S/4 XML template we downloaded from Migration Cockpit. Once everything is set up, click consent to execute the request. If the execution is successful, the XSD file for the customer S/4 template will be returned as a response within a few seconds. Save the response file with a .XSD extension. This is the customer data migration Iflow. Now we update the message mapping with XSD of later S/4 template. Click on the Edit button on the top right corner and once in edit mode, navigate inside message mapping to update the data structure. Again click on Edit button. We can see Source and Target. Since we are updating S/4 data structure, click on the Replace button on target side. Now upload our XSD here, which was saved from Postman Response. Click on Ok to save the changes. To map the additional standard fields or extension fields refer to previous microlearning video Chapter 4 Customized Standard Iflows. Click on Save. Now update the content modifier with the name S/4 template. Here replace the body of content modifier with S/4 XML template. Open the customer S/4 template in notepad or any XML editor. Copy and paste it inside the body of content modifier. Save and deploy the Iflow. The Iflow is now current with the S/4 XML template from Migration Cockpit. There are two Iflows to convert XML to XSD. One is for S/4HANA Cloud and another one is for Business ByDesign. Here we have seen how to use the S/4 XML to XSD Iflow. In Business ByDesign case, we use the ByD XML to XSD Iflow to get the Business ByDesign XSD. The process to get XSD for Business ByDesign is same as S/4HANA Cloud. We send a HTTPS post request with extracted ByD XML file and OBJ name header. Since the goal is to generate an XSD, extract only one or two records to simplify the process. Once you have the XTD, replace the Business ByDesign XSD in the message mapping. With this, we now know how to update the data structure for both Business ByDesign and S/4HANA Cloud. In this session, we have covered how to update Iflows with new data structures to accelerate your data migration project. And here is what you can look forward to in this series of learning. Learn how to enhance Iflows for CSV output. Learn how to automate data processing using SFTP in Iflows. Learn how to create your own Iflow. Thank you and see you next chapter.
