Using AI to Enhance SOW Descriptions in SAP Fieldglass

SAP Fieldglass released a new AI-enhanced feature that simplifies and strengthens collaboration with AI-enhanced Statement of Work  descriptions. Previously, it was a resource-intense process to articulate services requirements and expectations when collaborating on an SOW in the SAP Fieldglass application. When a buyer and supplier both collaborated to define an SOW, there was at least a 55% increase in cycle times for the SOW creation. If SOWs were vague or missing important information, there could be an increased risk to all involved. Enter in the AI Enhanced SOW Description feature in SAP Fieldglass. By leveraging the power of generative AI, a user can provide a series of simple inputs and generate a comprehensive SOW description. Ultimately, accelerating the overall SOW collaboration process. The new AI Enhanced SOW Description also includes explanations of different SOW characteristics, which can be used to support the description even further. There are several benefits of the AI Enhanced SOW Description in SAP Fieldglass. First, it improves productivity and reduces the cost of crafting SOWs. It reduces the investment when defining SOWs and eases the burden during the collaboration phase between buyers and suppliers. It also helps streamline processes and reduces collaboration cycle times. By enhancing the SOW descriptions through generative AI, suppliers will have a clearer understanding                                              of the service requirements and respond more precisely to the buyer. Reducing pressure on their resources, organisations can prioritise quality and devote attention to effective risk mitigation, resulting in a smoother SOW collaboration overall. The AI Enhanced Statement of Work Description feature applies to all customers, buyers and suppliers, who create or collaborate with the Services Procurement Module, or in other words, SOWs in SAP Fieldglass. SAP Fieldglass users who create or collaborate on SOWs are encouraged to simplify and strengthen SOW descriptions as much as possible. To best utilize the AI enhanced SOW description feature, users in SAP Fieldglass first initiate the SOW creation process. Data on the SOW is entered by the user and they control the featured inputs and outputs. Generative AI is then used to generate an enhanced SOW description. The user reviews  the content generation and makes modifications as needed. Here is how you could utilize AI to simplify and enhance an SOW description in SAP Fieldglass. To begin the Statement of Work creation process, select Create from the left navigation menu. Select Statement of Work, select the Classification dropdown, and select Full Service Project. The SOW owner defaults to the user account creating the SOW, as well as the default currency for the user's profile. You leave these fields as-is. Select Next Step, select the supplier you wish to collaborate with on the SOW, which in this case will be supplier 2. Select the full-service IT SOW  Time and Materials template, and select Continue. The SOW name is automatically populated from the SOW template. You will leave this field as-is for now. The description is also automatically populated from the SOW template. To simplify collaboration and strengthen the SOW description with Generative AI, select Enhance with AI. The first time you use the AI Enhance SOW Description feature, an artificial intelligence consent message appears. This is to ensure you review all the data generated by AI and adjust the output after as needed, and you select OK. The set prompts are at the input for the content creation and allowing the hiring manager to decide what will be used to enhance the SOW description. You are satisfied with the prompts selected, so you select Generate to generate the updated SOW description. The side-by-side comparison shows the current original description compared to the AI generated description. You can also modify prompts or regenerate the description if desired. The AI generated description will provide a much clearer and comprehensive description of the SOW. Here you can see the AI enhanced SOW description now also includes explanations of the different characteristics. Select accept. The updated AI generated SOW description is now automatically populated in the description box of the create statement of work page. you may continue to modify the generated SOW description and tune the content as needed. And that is how the AI-enhanced SOW description feature in SAP Fieldglass simplifies and strengthens collaboration amongst users in the application.
