Warehouse Outbound Processing with Handling Unit Management - SAP S/4HANA Supply Chain

Hello everybody and welcome to microlearning. My name is Markus Oertelt. I'm an SAP S/4HANA Cloud senior solution advisor, and I'm working in the area of product success and customer co-innovation at SAP. Doing this microlearning, we will cover how to use handling units in warehouse outbound processing. This is interesting for you as you will see the  latest developments in handling your harmonization within S/4HANA Cloud. If you are an S/4HANA Cloud application consultant, process consultant, or a supply chain-minded project/program manager, this microlearning is especially for you. Our main focus is the run outbound process, which can be broken down into the following steps: create pick warehouse tasks, confirm pick warehouse tasks, pack goods into shipping handling units, post goods issue, and check handling unit in outbound delivery. Let's start the demonstration in this system. Just imagine you're the warehouse clerk and you're checking the outbound deliveries. What I want to do is I want to open the Run Outbound Process delivery app. And there I'm going to see the outbound deliveries, and they are and ready for shipping and packing. And I'm particularly interested in the 114 delivery because the goods issue has not started. The packing and picking has also not started and I don't even have a picking plan. So let's take a look at it. And let me go into the Outbound Delivery Order monitor. We can see that we have missing tasks, so I'm going to click on it. And when I highlight the item number 10, I can see I can create a task, I can create a task manually, for example. I can also change delivery item quantity, and I can also adjust the delivery quantity. I want to use the system to create a task automatically. So I'm just going to say to create a task, and the system automatically in the background creates me a warehouse task. And let's take a look at this warehouse task. So now I'm the clerk on the shop floor, or actually in the warehouse, and I have this nice app where I see my tasks, what I have  to do. And here I see my task 510, it's still open. I have the source bin. I have my source handling unit where I take two pieces out, and I see my destination bin, the goods issue area 02. If I want to know more information, I can also go into this warehouse task. I can change the destination bin, for example. I can also have some exception handling. For example, if I need to split the warehouse task because one of those two pieces is really, really important and I need to put it on a shipment, on a truck, as fast as possible. But for now, everything is good and I want to confirm this warehouse task. So I'm done - the warehouse test status has changed to Confirmed. I've gotten those two pieces, and what do I want to do now is to actually pack those two pieces, or repack them in a handling unit because I'm going to ship them out. As we can see, my Picking Executed status is "100% Picked". For packing in a handling unit, I use another app, It's called Pack Outbound Deliveries, and I'm going to open this one. I have a work center - usually in a warehouse you have some kind of structure, where you pack your shipments, and I'm going to choose the storage bin. As we learned, my goods are in GI-AREA-02, and I'm going to start the packing. So here this is my packing monitor. You can also use mobile devices to put this one on. And this one is a good example - you can integrate a scanner for the reference number, our delivery 114. Usually you can scan it or... I mean usually you work with scanners. Here I'll do it manually just to show you in the microlearning. So I'm going to hit it. And then right after I've identified the reference number of my shipment, the system asks me for a packaging material, and I want to put it in the pallet. I'm going to say Create. And now the system has created the handling unit for me, which is 237. What else can I do? Well, I can say I just want to partially pack those two pieces, or I can just pack everything in that handling unit. So once I've packed everything in that handling unit, the two pieces are shifting over into my handling unit 237. So if I have, for example a, scale integrated, I can also have here the gross weight. Let's put like maybe 50 kilos, and then I see the net weight went to 30 kilos. Let's say the scale is broken and I say 1,500  kilos, then the system already gives me a warning that this is not possible. So let's put it back to 50, and I've packed everything up. So I'm going to say to close, packing is done, I say Leave, I'm going to leave the packing area. So now the truck is arriving, and I'm going to hand over my two pieces to the truck driver. He's going to load it. And in my outbound monitor, I want to then say, okay, I can print the loading  list. And I can also say, okay, the two pieces on the  truck, I can book goods issue. This is how fast you go through the packing with a handling unit in the warehouse process. And now the integration into the sales process. This is the latest development with S/4HANA Cloud. This is what I'm going to show you now with the handling unit. Now we see the fulfillment of our standard order in the sales process. We have created the standard order, or the sales department created it. We in the warehouse finished the delivery and  put it on a truck. The invoice has been created, the journal entry is not cleared. So now with the latest development, we have integrated the handling unit from the warehouse into the delivery in the sales process. So let's take a look at it. So this is our delivery, and what are we interested in? We are interested in this item and our handling unit. So when I click on Pack, our handling unit 237 is appearing, And we can see that those two handling units are the same in the delivery. and also in the warehouse delivery. Therefore, this process has been harmonized in the latest S/4HANA Cloud release. Before ending this microlearning, let's recap what we've covered. Run outbound processing, including handling unit management - from creating warehouse tasks to posting goods issues. For further learnings, check out the openSAP course Building Tomorrow's ERP with SAP S/4HANA. All right, now it's time to apply what you've learned. Thank you and goodbye.
