Working with Categories and Product Types - SAP CPQ

Hello, I'm Minnie. In this video, you'll learn how to categories, subcategories and product types for use in SAP CPQ. First, let me explain the purpose of categories, subcategories and product types. Categories and subcategories. So use a segment products in the catalog and a logical hierarchical manner. Once categories are created, subcategories can be added as to children or the category, product types, or a way to classify products in or add it to product data. They are used to group order information and quotes, allows the salesperson to view subtotals and set discounts based on the type of product. As a use case, I'm going to add a new category and subcategory for jewelry. Then I add a product type jury. To add a new category and subcategory. I'll navigate to the setup menu. Next, I'll select Product, Catalog and then categories. This brings me to the categories workspace where I can manage all the categories in my SAP CPQ, your environment in this example, and a new category. So I'll click Add New, Fill out the required fields to add the category. I can always come back later to edit the other fields. For the category name, I'll enter jury. The system ID is required and it's automatically generate. It wants a name. The category for the rank must enter a whole number indicating the order of appearance on the category page. I'll enter ten for this spiel. I'll also check the visibility permissions and make sure that this category is visible to everyone. However, I do have the option to restrict the visibility of the category to certain user types, companies, markets, Brian's or custom permission groups. As mentioned, I'll leave the category visible to everyone. Now, I'll click Save. Now I'm back in the categories workspace and ACASI, the category I just created. I'll click the Edit icon to add the two sub categories. I'll scroll to the bottom of the page and click Add a sub category. I'll enter the category name is fine jewelry. What the rank of ten? Ma click Save. Then I add another subcategory for fashion jewelry with a rank of 20. And now I'll click Save. From here, I can exit ceta to see the categories that I created. Now, I'll show you how to add a product type. First, I'll navigate to the setup menu. Now, I'll select Product Catalog and then product types. This Workspace displays the existing product types and I can manage them here. So some adding a new product type, I'm going to click Add new. And a product type named feel. Our inner jury. I'll include a rank of ten. And now I'll click Save. Following these steps allows me to discount jury separately from other product types. For example, the salesperson can provide a 20 percent discount on all the jury and the quote. Thank you for watching.
