Activating SAP Fiori Launchpad Using SAP Fiori Foundation Task List

Welcome to this microlearning activating SAP Fiori launchpad using SAP Fiori Foundation Task List. Hi, my name is Rohit Khan. I'm part of SAP S/4HANA Regional Implementation Group. Let's understand the agenda. So in this microlearning, we will cover the purpose of the Fiori Foundation Task List. We will understand the prerequisites required to run this task list then we will see how to run this task list followed by a system demo and last but not least we'll see the outcome of this task list. Coming to the purpose of the task list is you know it is mainly to activate the OData services, ICF nodes. You can use this task list to configure the parameters required for SAP Fiori launchpad, including cross -functional features such as My Home for SAP S/4HANA. The task list also activates the services and configures other things such as mapping the system aliases to launch classic UI technologies from the launchpad. And finally, this task list will also generate the baseline security roles like user role for launchpad access and launchpad content administrator role to do the respective admin activities. Now coming to the task list usage, of course you know you can use this task list to activate SAP Fiori launchpad in SAP S/4HANA sandbox environment. You can also use this to activate Fiori Launchpad in the development environment as well as activate non-transportable system-specific settings for SAP S/4HANA in the higher environments or the subsequent environments. The task list can also be used on your first time installation to run the recommended tasks. you can also use this task list at the time of upgrade to turn on the new features as well as any time to reset the configurations now for the prerequisites of course you know you need to ensure that you have referred to the SAP Note 2712785 that talks about initial setup for Fiori applications and you have also followed the prerequisites as mentioned in the SAP Note 2902673. Of course that may be specific to your SAP S/4HANA release. Additionally you must be authorized to run the transition codes STC01 and STC02. Further you should also have the required authorizations to create the transport requests and create security rules. All right, now let's see the demo. All right, so to run the demo, we'll go to STC02, transaction code, and we will list our prerequisite task list just to ensure that they are in green status. So for that, we are going to uncheck all other options and just keep finished successfully so as to check if the status is green or not. All right. Now, when we run this, you now you can see here all these prerequisite task lists have been successful and all of them have the status as green, which means we are good to now run the Fiori Foundation task list for which we will run STC01. Now, here we are going to give the task list name, which is SAP_FIORI_FOUNDATION_S4. And then we will click on generate task list run. Once you are inside the task list you will see a lot of tasks under this task list and each task will perform certain activity and activate certain things in the system. Now for example if you see here there are a lot of tasks like configure FLP for UI5 apps, set transport options for activated OData services, generate Fiori foundation roles and so on and so forth. Now on right hand side that you see icons with the pencil these are parameters so of course we need to supply some parameters for example in this case you can provide your own workbench request or you can let the system create the workbench request for you similarly you can also choose for the customizing request you can click on the parameters icon and of course you know you can let the system create a customizing request for you or you can supply your own. Now similarly you have another parameter here you know to replicate the back -end catalogs for system aliases so just ensure that full replication is selected you save it and then you come back and move on to the next parameter which is set transport options and if you click on this of course you see the package here is $tmp which means we need to change it to a Z package for example in our case we are choosing Z_FIORI so you save your activities and of course you can here also you can see you can either let the system create a transport request for you or you can supply your existing transport request. So all looks good. Go back and then move on to the next step which is you can see here generate Fiori foundation roles. Now of course here you again need to click on the parameter icons and you see here the system will generate two composite roles. One Z_FIORI_FOUNDATION_ADMIN which is required for running the admin related tasks for the Fiori and then Z_FIORI_FOUNDATION_USER which is required to of course you know run the Fiori launchpad. So all looks good if you see here everything looks fine now it's time to run the task list.  As an advice it is best to run the task list in the background so you select that option and now you will see the task list is running for you and immediately some of the steps have been executed successfully but you got to wait for some time because the system will take a certain amount of time before all the steps are you know executed successfully. Now you can see here yeah it is processing step 14 of 32 and similarly you know it will move on you can keep on refreshing. All right now you can see here all the tasks have ran successfully and you can also click on the display full log icon to see the detailed log. And in this log you can see all the background activities that happened and you can see the different services that got activated and so on.  All right so that looks good so we have finished the demo of activating the Fiori Foundation. Now let's go ahead and see the outcome of this Fiori Foundation task list.  When you click on /UI2/FLP to launch the launchpad. You will see some of the applications are now already existing under these pages. Now if you click on for example Fiori launchpad you will see in this you have certain applications. So that finishes my demo. Let's go ahead and understand some of the key learnings. So wrapping up the micro learning you have now gained following key learnings. You now know that SAP Fiori Foundation task list is the most efficient way to activate Fiori Launchpad and its main features. Also, you have learned that you can use this task list in any system, especially in the sandbox and the development environments. And you can run this task list if it is your first time installation or when you are doing an upgrade to configure new changes. And also, you can run this anytime to reset as well you also have come to know that you know the task list will generate a security authorization roles for business users to access the Fiori launchpad and also an administrator role to manage the launchpad content.
