Adapting SAP Enterprise Asset Management Web User Interface

Hello and welcome to OpenSAP Microlearning about the adaptation of web user interface in enterprise asset management. My name is Olga Goncharova and I am working as a business process consultant in the area of SAP S/4HANA Asset Management. In this video I will give an overview about the options for adaptations and personalization of the Web Dynpro applications in asset management. In S/4HANA Asset Management you can use applications with different UI technologies, SAP UF5 applications, Web Dynpro applications and SAP GUI transactions. All these user interfaces are flexible and can be adapted to the needs of individual customers. Let us take a closer look at the Web Dynpro applications. You can feed a Web Dynpro application to your needs on a number of different levels and through a number of different people. The developer models the Web Dynpro application. This includes the programming and basis configuration. Changes to configuration are stored directly in the Web Dynpro above development layer. The administrator configures the settings in customizing on client level or for a defined group of users. The administrator can also add further UI elements, which don't require programming. All changes in Administrator mode are modification-free changes, so no coding is changed. The individual user can also adjust some settings of the application to suit his or her specific needs. Most of the Asset Management Web Dynpro applications are built in a similar way using Floorplan Manager for Web Dynpro ABAP. Floorplan Manager is a highly configurable user interface framework for easy and efficient application development and adaptation based of Web Dynpro ABAP. Let me show you a brief demo. Using the Web Dynpro technical help, you can easily identify if it is an FPM application. Before you work in administrator or expert mode, you have to set up the user parameter in your user data. If this user parameter is set, the new icons are shown in the upper right corner of the Web Dynpro application. By choosing this push button, you can start the configuration directly in the Web Dynpro application. In the configurator, you open a navigation and repository screen area on the left-hand side, where all screens and dialog boxes of the applications are listed. To work on individual screen elements, such as tabs or user-defined building blocks, you mark the respective line in the object's instance scheme. By choosing the push button attributes you open the corresponding attributes screen area. To create a new customizing for the whole application, you choose create customizing in the drop-down menu of the other functions. You can enter a description for the new customizing. You are now in customizing mode of the configuration, which is indicated by a yellow line at the top of the screen. The changes you make are on client level and affect all users. If you want to make changes to specific user interface building blocks, for example, you want to add an additional field to the object list, you can start your user interface building block customizing by choosing the push button show customizable areas. The system highlights every user interface building block in blue and a new icon is shown in the upper right corner. The system navigates you to the customizing mode. Then you click on add column and select the field you need. The display type can be changed. Now you can use the processing indicator in the object list. You can also replace the standard search help for a field with an individual search help. For example, you want to change the standard search criteria for the responsible work center in notification. The standard search criteria are Plant, Work Center, Description and Language Key. And you want to additionally provide the search criteria on Work Center category. In a first step, you have to find out the technical name of the field to which you want to assign a new search help. Then you need to find out the data structure that contains this field and the technical name of the search help object. After you have worked out the technical name of the field, the data structure and the search help object, you can assign the new search help to the field in customizing. Go to Plant Maintenance, Maintenance Roles, Maintenance Worker, Configure Search Help Assignment. In customizing, you can also hide the rearrange table columns for all users working in the same client. For example, you want to create a new default view for the operation data list. You enter the customizing mode of the operation data, and in the list UIBB scheme, you can change the order of the columns by using the up and down button. You can also define personal settings, which are only valid for the respective user in the current system and therefore are not transported to other systems. For example, you don't want the long text to be displayed. To hide screen areas or specific fields, you open the application in any mode, open the context menu and choose hide group of UI elements in user settings. If you want to revoke your personal settings, open the context menu again and choose User Settings and Visible Elements. You can find more
