Adding Individual Clauses to the Clause Library in SAP Ariba Contracts

Welcome to our tutorial on adding individual clauses to the Clause Library in SAP Ariba Contracts. This straightforward process will help you efficiently manage clauses that are frequently used in your contract workspace projects. Before starting, ensure you're a member of the Clause Library team. Remember you don't need to load every clause your company uses, only those that will be used more than once are those you want to track usage data for. Now let's begin the process of adding a clause. First, create a document containing text for a single clause. Do not format the clause in any way. If the document contains headers, footers, or background information, there's no need to remove them. SAP Ariba Contracts will ignore these elements. In this example, we will create a clause pertaining to phone warranties in the European Union. Next, navigate to the clause library within SAP Ariba Contracts and access the Clauses tab. Optionally, you can create a folder to contain your clause. This is especially helpful if you have alternate clauses for a preferred clause. Users can easily select alternate clauses in project documents. Now, open the location or folder where you want to add the clause. Select Actions then Create Clause. This will open the Create New Clause page. Select the file you want to load. You can browse for the file, enter the file path, or simply drag and drop the file icon. Enter a description for the clause. The description information is visible to contract authors and can be useful to them when they view documents in the Outline View or when substituting clauses. Choose the clause type, preferred, alternate, or fallback. Keep in mind that new clauses are initially in draft status and are not immediately available for templates or substitutions. Review and confirm the details to have the clause added to the library. To make the clause available for use, publish it. Select the name of the clause you loaded and choose Actions and then Publish. You've successfully added an individual clause to the Clause Library. This process makes managing clauses easier and ensures your contract authors have easy access to the clauses they need.
