Adding Project Groups to SAP Ariba Strategic Sourcing Templates

This video will demonstrate manually adding project groups to SAP Ariba strategic sourcing templates. Project template groups within templates help establish the groups within a project's team. Project owners may not know all the parties responsible for participating in various tasks in a given project, so template groups help automate the process. Project owners can always create new groups in their projects as needed, but template groups may be locked into certain tasks and may not be editable by the project owner regarding who belongs to the group and what roles might be assigned. Let's see how to add a project group within a template. We will open the composing template and go to the team tab. The actions menu has the option to edit the groups and members. On the team page, the group column displays the project groups that form your project team. The group name is a link that allows you to edit the team's attributes, such as allowing the project owner to edit or restricting additional members from being added to the group by the project owner. Note that the Roles link allows you to assign roles that act as permissions within the project that surpass their existing permissions from system group membership. It's important to note that roles are optional and should be assigned only if needed. Information on roles can be found in our product documentation. These fields will appear when you add a new project group. First, provide a descriptive title for the group. Determine if the project owner can edit the group or add supplemental users of their choosing. Deciding this at the template level is crucial since it cannot be altered once the project is created. Optionally add roles and choose OK. Once the group is added, you can select members for it. However, assigning members at the project level is usually best, not at the template level. This flexibility allows project creators to assign users based on the specific needs of each project. The Teams Members column is where you can set the users within the project groups. The members can be users or even custom system groups. The last column is conditions that can make the project group dynamic and dependent on field value selection. Conditions are optional. SAP Ariba templates often come with default project team groups, such as Global Observers and Project Owner. As an administrator, you can use these default groups or create new ones as needed.
